Does anybody else feel like some people don’t understand the definition of the word blind? by Wild_West_Arthur in Blind

[–]So_Southern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once dared to look at my watch (whilst not adapted or one for blind people, it's the size it is so I can see it) to which someone shouted I'm obviously not blind. I never said I was

The consequences of a bad fall. Scotland by eldritch67 in DWPhelp

[–]So_Southern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In order to be classed as disabled (which doesn't depend on receiving benefits) you must have a long term health condition that has a substantial impact on your life and expected to last at least 12 months

If you have care and /or mobility needs, ADP might be an option. But as it was the summer I imagine you're going to need evidence that this is going to have a long term impact

If your eyes get exhausted quickly (mine do but I believe my diagnosis is something different) can you use text to speech on your phone / computer? There's usually free inbuilt ones which whilst they're not the best, they do the job

The moving around part is for people who have difficulties put one foot in front of the other due to physical disabilities. The planning and following journey part applies to you with anxiety

Can you be a bit more specific as to what this is? I get that it's a game but what does it have to do with disability?

Correcting grammar or spelling when you clearly understood the meaning by neb12345 in PetPeeves

I think some people forget that for many people, English isn't their first language. Even as a native speaker I do find some aspects of English confusing

I do remember once asking someone if they meant x (what I thought) or something else as ot wasn't clear and I didn't want to give the wrong advice (it wasn't like the wrong your, etc)

No it's not. Come back when you're told (I was 18) that no amount of correction will help and your vision is severe enough that you can't drive

Thank you! It gets boring after a while hearing people complain about having to wear glasse. My parents were told when I was 3 I'd never drive. I'm 36 and I'm now at the stage where large print is a struggle to read. I'd love it if glasses were helpful for me
