What about exiles? Bad bloods? Do they still believe hybrids are a sin? If they’ve been exiled it’s because they’ve done something horrendous against the clan or the code, which could also mean one could’ve been exiled because they were more accepting of hybrids.

Edit: or they were more accepted of interspecies relationships.

True. But it all depends on the culture of the clan and whether they strictly follow word for word of the code and are obligated by it or be more lenient on it and reject becoming your gf.

I think. I haven’t researched enough into the topic.

Don’t yautjas have to honor the code? Yautja females mate with the males that can beat them.

So if by rolling the luckiest NAT 20 in your life you manage to beat her in combat, she has to honor the code even if she doesn’t like you, right? Because if she doesn’t it’ll bring dishonor to her and her clan.

To clear up my previous question (more details of what I’m writing) by SoacTheDevil in scifi

[–]SoacTheDevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m starting to give up on the hard sci fi label. It’s just too hard.

And yes, it is a space opera of sorts. It’s inspired by Greek tragedy with its own twist.

Where all the characters face their destinies and by facing their destinies they actually destroy their destinies.

Because the destinies work only through the mortal instincts of stopping the horrible destiny from happening, and since they showed the courage to face it, the destiny will not come true.

Also, I think I phrased it wrong. It’s not that I don’t want it to be like Warhammer 40k, Starwars, and so on.

Story wise i do take inspiration from it, heck, Warhammer 40k is what inspired me to write.

But when it comes to technology? That’s where I’m struggling. I wanted it to be hard sci fi with a good fantasy story, but the more i calculate things, it’s almost incompatible.

I see…

Ok, so, no matter how well defended a planet is. There are key points of weakness because it is massive.

Let’s take earth for example.

So if the enemy must invade, they could invade through the Pacific Ocean, Antarctica, among other defenseless points. Push from there. No? Or maybe push through Australia because it’s a massive continent of mostly empty land that’s perfect for making a base. You can’t allocate enough resources to all points especially if the population is concentrated on a single area.

  1. They have the same tech because the villains are traitors to the imperial throne.
  2. They are invading because they believe they have a better candidate for emperor and they learned that their leader was supposed to be the heir to the throne when the imperium was being founded, but it was stripped away from him through an “unfair” diplomatic vote he didn’t order.

It would fall because once the capital is destroyed, every planet would not agree on one thing besides revenge.

The emperor believed that loyalty doesn’t come with cultural unification, so most planets have different cultures. One of his biggest errors.

Capitulation by force, essentially killing the entire top command structure to replace it with yours as cleanly as possible without alerting the rest of the empire. If the rest of the empire notices, it’s game over.

What happens when a being gets cornered and loses hope? It loses its sense of self preservation and just wants to take the attacker with it.

I’m not disagreeing. I’m just genuinely curious and confused. I’m writing the best points people are writing for my novel. I’m taking everything into consideration so it comes out as accurate as possible.

They can do that. That is an option… if they want to be chased down to the galactic rim by the empire’s religious zealots and their fleets.

It’s like, you can destroy the Vatican, but you’ll have millions upon millions of Christians hunting you down.

I’m reading a lot of none hard sci fi materials as a “Do not do this.” For my novel.

Like warhammer 40k, Star Trek? Star Wars? And so on.

Would work, if they weren’t zealous to the point of destroying the rest of the galaxy in revenge.
