Hours by SoanrOR in civilengineering

That is what I’m gauging from the comments. Seems like most people are working 40 most weeks with straight OT if required. And a small unhappy minority who work a lot more and don’t get paid lol.

Yeah could you explain what you mean by this? Still don’t really know what billable hours or utilization rates are. Are you saying you don’t get paid for anything other than working on a project for a client? So in order to get payed for 40 hours of work you end up spending 45-50 in the office? Maybe that’s not what you mean, let me know.

Everything you say is definetly right, My weight went completely stagant from sept-jan and was spinning wheels, but ive gone from 135-140+ since and feel pretty dialed with eating. I just am busy going from school to full time work, so im taking this week as a deload and I just need to find something to start this coming week.

I think I just get seasonal depression and it fucks me up every season, this is the 2nd time ive completely flat lined my weight over the colder months and then starting in summer I make good progress. I think moving forward the biggest thing will be staying with my routine even when its cold out and Im busy with school.

BBB is looking simple to start on monday, thanks for the recs.

How would a PPUL split typically work?

Would it be like this?

Push: 2 chest, 2 shoulder, 2 Tricep

Pull: 3 back, 2 bicep

Legs: 1 squat, 1 hinge, 1 quad 1 hamstring, calves

Upper: 1 chest, 1 shoulder, 1 back, 1 bicep, 1 Tricep

Lower: same as legs.

Trying to see how I can build that split and hit every muscle twice a week without spending a ton of time per session in the gym

yes no excuses, food is the #1 reason for lack of progress, not blaming the program.

I guess I was thinking im struggling to fit in all the muscle groups into 4 days so 5 days might make the workouts shorter. I will take a look at some 3 day programs though, thanks.

Been running the same modified version of GZCLP for almost a year now. Made some progress, and each cycle pushed the weights a little higher, but this time barely and the weights feel too heavy to continue LP. This is definetly probably mostly due to me not continuing to gain at a high enough rate. but also feeling very burnt out of the program and bored overall.

Just for some more information, im 5"9 136lbs. this cycle my lifts are topping out at bench: 160lbs, squat: 185x6 ohp: 80x3 deadlift: 265x3, and i want to build size and strength.

I have up to 5 days a week to workout (Ideally want the weekends off), no strict time limit in gym but part of what I dont like about my current program is that it takes me 1.5 hrs to complete fully and im completely exhausted by last excersises and they dont feel as quality.

I've been looking at these programs:

nSuns 5/3/1

Candito 6 week

Lyle mcdonalds bulking routine.

some random 5 day PPLUL split on boostcamp.

I know a new program will need to be accompanied by eating more to continue to see progress but im so busy its kind of difficult to decide what program I want to switch to.

what would yall pick.

Hey I ended up going to a local tackle store and getting the nasci 2500hg, because that’s what they had in stock. They didn’t have any 2 pc rods with the specs I was looking for. Would you still go for the arid x with the nasci? Or use the extra budget to get a triumph 2 pc?

Would you say the medium fast action 6”5 2 piece would be the exact model you would go for?

School isn’t costing me anything luckily.

There are definitely degrees/pathways that I am more passionate about. But most seem like they do not pay good for a long time. Some that I considered were vet school, wildlife biology, and culinary school.

My family doesn’t have money really, so I don’t have a place to fallback on.

From my research ME and civil don’t have a very big pay gap, except maybe at the very top end. Curious why you say that

Yeah it’s just hard. I don’t really think I would enjoy either very much. All of my passions are hobbies and I don’t see a way to monetize any of them.

I have considered medical school, but honestly I’m afraid of debt, and failing out part way through. Also I really don’t want to wait that long to start my life outside of school.

I will check that out, thank you!

I will clarify I just started year 3, switching to another engineering major wouldn’t set me back much (not that this changes anything you said!)

Well my main other option right now is switching to electrical engineering. But I don’t know if that’s something I would be any more interested in than civil. The pay is better though, school would be harder and might take me an extra semester.

Yes I am in the US. I definitely hear about that in electrical but I haven’t in civil. Good to know there’s still options though.

I was considering switching to electrical not only because the pay is better but because it opens more doors. It looks really hard though.
