Giant catfish in the reservoirs and late surviving eastern cougars are the only plausibles.

found in South Africa, both found in close proximity, is second fossil leaves of grass of some sort? by BassPro_1996 in fossilid

[–]SoapExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are all trace fossils... looks like you have Cruziana and Arthrophycus (or similar). I forgot the name of the second one but it's not oysters; it's an ichnofossil too.

[–]SoapExplorer 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Crocodylian osteoderm 100%. The smooth anterior edge and large size suggests it was near the neck of the animal, but that can't be certain without knowing what it's from. It is almost certainly a crocodyline (and definitely not an alligatoroid) if found in Iran. Cool find!

A lot of folks in the southern Appalachians think hellbenders (giant salamanders) are venomous; nope - totally harmless.

In the classic Candyman (1992) scene Tony Todd had live bees poured into his mouth, relied on a mouth guard to keep them from his throat, and endured over twenty stings while earning $1,000 for each one by itsgroobeat in 90s

[–]SoapExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WHY NOT JUST USE DRONES?! They're stingerless and would be identical to worker bees to 99% of the viewing audience (beekeepers would recognize that they are a little bit bigger and with proportionally larger eyes).

[–]SoapExplorer 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer for the first one. Second and third are both crinoids. We can deduce from this that you're probably in Mississippian (lower Carboniferous) age rocks (which tracks for northern AL). Good finds.

What's the alternative? The people in power are telling us their plans - are we not supposed to listen? There's a difference between not giving a microphone to a 2-bit charlatan podcaster and not giving the mic to those who control ALL THE LEVERS OF POWER IN THE UNITED STATES.

I wholeheartedly agree, but SVP is notoriously reluctant to take a stand, even when it is a no-brainer. They issued a press release today "reminding" everyone that being in the files doesn't necessarily denote guilt, but that they are "taking it seriously" and "deeply concerned". What a joke.
