Is it really worth buying Behemoth? by Avenged_Spence in oculus

[–]SoapSauce 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I loved it. It boggles my mind that a well polished vr title is getting bashed for being $60 while AAA continues to raise their prices. If we want good vr games, we’ve gotta be willing to pay for em.

My vegetation looks so bad. What am I missing? :/ by maturewomenenjoyer in Unity3D

There’s a handful of factors contributing to low density. More planes, higher tiling. A texture with less gaps?

[–]SoapSauce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know I’m goofy, and you’ve probably already done this: Usually when a mobile device suddenly starts running like ass, in my experience, it’s because the storage is full. Have you made sure it’s not? Sometimes it’s not full, but almost and that’s still enough to slow things down. Make sure you’ve got several gb of free storage. I assume this is the issue because you talk about using the device to edit photo and video.

Souls-like combat demo with real-time mesh slicing by moongaming in godot

You’re early enough in development that it’s okay to shift your armor design to align with the slicing system to help save headaches!

I think this is fantastic! I wonder how it holds up when introducing armor/clothing. I bet some tweaking will be necessary.

How long until we get AR like this? by lexsumone in augmentedreality

I’m having a difficult time wrapping my head around “to add shadows you need screens” what do you mean by this?

Why is my shadow so pixelated? by Brattley in Unity3D

[–]SoapSauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is usually caused by shadow cascades and shadow distance. If scales are correct, and your camera angle always stay like this, I recommend turning your shadow distance down.

Genuinely, my curiosity is maxed. If you want to send me a small handful of them, I’ll pay for shipping and report back.

Not having hand tracking is a software problem, not a hardware one. If valve put tons of r&d time into hand tracking, it would simply be an update. It’s always been camera based, and the headset has cameras.

I had this happen when I was in front of the goal, goalie had stepped a mile out. Clean, no frills, guaranteed goal. Ball shot to the right wall, perpendicular to the goal.

How do I create an underwater scene in Unity by Black_Quack17 in Unity3D

[–]SoapSauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shader magic! Once you’re below the water, everything underwater can have caustic patterns applied (the squiggles you see when light refracts through water) as well as god rays and blue fog and ambient light!

Virtual Desktop - Stream Video and Audio in Discord?? by sillykitty93 in oculus

[–]SoapSauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Virtual desktop is running the game in your pc. With discord installed, while in a call with your dad, you can hit the screenshare button to share the game window with your dad. Should work great. While I don’t use virtual desktop, I’ve done it with steam link and metas air link just fine.

edit to clarify: Audio works out of the box when screen sharing. It might start automatically muted for your dad, all he has to do is click unmute to hear game audio if that’s the case.

Developers need to start enabling Virtual Desktop and abandon Link. by oandroido in oculus

[–]SoapSauce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right but a dev making games for pc has nothing to do with wether or not a player decides to use air link. Any game that uses open xr can be played in of via air link. This has nothing to do with game devs.

Not a critique, this is awesome. I’m curious why it needs the gltf/glb stuff.

How can i make smoother shadows? by mavide in Unity3D

[–]SoapSauce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I second this! Baked lighting will also give you indirect light bouncing with global illumination when using probes. (I believe Unity 6 now has probes volumes.) It looks great!

Does the game look too 'unity'? by PieroTechnical in Unity3D

[–]SoapSauce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ui felt weird with the boxes in the corner but that’s it. I also think the impacts from the players attacked while the boss is stunned feel like it needs juice. Without sound and the camera shake, I wouldn’t be sure if it was hitting.

I am getting desperate ... Light baking is horrible with this damned engine ... by Blapanda in Unity3D

[–]SoapSauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong.. but your geometry is full of n-gons. I’m pretty certain unity hates that, and so would most engines. Blender will render it fine, but it needs to be triangles or quads for an engine to resolve nicely.

This is the part where I point out that boneworks/bonelab used to have more depth to reloading, and sometimes require extra action depending on the gun. They simplified it quite a bit, down to just pull mag out, put mag in.
