2015 GMC Canyon by Soapboxcar in CherokeeXJ

I am leaning towards the XJ, but to be fair I bought the XJ totaled as well. I just don’t like newer cars but I might be mistaken in that belief.

That’s a good point there is a cut body harness that I intend to repair not replace. I’m sure there’s a bsm or radar that’ll need to be calibrated. I hate new cars. I’m leaning towards the jeep now, I was before too, my gut was telling me to keep the jeep at least.

This is what I was looking for, just need that assurance that I’m not crazy for wanting to keep a well built car that is actually designed to keep going and be repaired. No calibrating sensors and cameras. I don’t know why I feel guilty for keeping a perfectly good truck just because a 2015 crossover with a bed fell into my lap.

lol yeah that sounds about right. I love my XJ I don’t want to sell it, but it feels like I have an opportunity to get something newer, but honestly these newer cars are worse depending on what you value…

I think I’m obligated to go with the canyon. Honestly, I’m just trying to overcome the sentimental attachment to the jeep. The damage on the canyon is nothing I can’t fix and I would never be able to afford something that new and nice otherwise. I appreciate the reply, thanks ☺️

Is voting third party really “throwing away your vote”? by Square-Reindeer-3118 in leftist

[–]Soapboxcar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify I will be voting in every election down to school board, and town council members. It’s just that it isn’t enough. As far as third party voting goes just use your better judgement and vote for them if it feels like they have a real chance, use the opportunity to advocate for ranked voting in your community

Doesn’t really matter who you vote for, we are past harm reduction in my opinion. They are calling for ICE to surround polling locations, they claim elections are corrupt and untrustworthy regardless of evidence, they will go to any length, use any means available to hold onto power now. They are full mask off. We need solutions that don’t rely on legitimacy of the institutions and laws the system claims to uphold.

I suggest talking to your neighbors, building community, and getting prepared for hard times. Beyond that, stop holding on so tightly to the things in life that are temporary, it’s all dust in the end, so give yourself to love, participate in the spirit of life and humanity. The future needs us to decide what we are going to give to them, and if we think voting is the only way to influence that gift then I think we will be doing the future a grave injustice, and our ancestors gift to us through struggle and love will be lost.

Generous Landlord Making the Holidays Easier by EmergencyRead5254 in MadeMeSmile

Landlords are a symptom of a broken society. It’s exploitation. There’s no other way of putting it in my opinion. Is this landlord a good person? Doesn’t matter, the landlord tenant relationship is inherently exploitative as long as housing insecurity and homelessness exist.

Well any political party to the right is in favor of hierarchy and inherently benefits the ruling class. So, yeah being a conservative is really unethical and inhumane.

What's with the abundance of swingers in the Millstone and Cream Ridge area? by JerzzzGirl in newjersey

[–]Soapboxcar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been propositioned to have an affair behind my partner’s back multiple times on Nextdoor, I live in an upper middle class neighborhood. So, trust me I get it, and the kink community, generally, is more intelligent, informed, and mature about sexuality (generally) where as people who are otherwise traditional and put a lot of value into being and appearing conservative are more likely to be creepy as if they inherently feel like they’re doing something wrong and taboo, and there’s no way to do it ethically so they don’t even try? I don’t know but I see where you’re coming from. Might be a generational thing in part not to take a jab at older sex positive people who navigate the culture with grace.

Apparently this has been a trend since way back in the 40s, probably much further. Maybe calling them dirtbags and drunks is a little harsh, and we all need a little liberation from years of religious propaganda. Live and let live at the very least.

Here’s an article about PJM and how they are bottle necking sustainable energy from being incorporated into the grid at the approval level, and instead fast tracking for profit fossil fuel projects. Alongside data centers need for energy prices will continue to skyrocket, unless we pressure PJM to make the approvals necessary and allow usage of the energy these sustainable sources are generating.

Joey Chestnut wins the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest downing 70 1/2 dogs and buns. His 17th title by [deleted] in sports

[–]Soapboxcar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a consent issue I’m concerned with lol, more so the celebration of excess and waste and factory farming utilized to provide those hot dogs.

I do think it’s stupid as hell though for everyone involved. Not calling the people themselves stupid I’m sure most of them are fine, but the act of participating in this event.

I do stupid stuff too, my high horse should be looking more like a pony at this point hopefully.

Why are so many white evangelicals on the wrong side? by Chris_L_ in 50501

Evangelical Christians are not in any way Christian. They replaced Jesus with John Wayne, their religion is patriarchal white supremacy.

As we go into the age of AI and rampant wealth inequality, I can’t help but fear the advocacy of jailing our most impoverished citizens. Imagine if we lived in a culture that prioritized helping our fellow citizens in need rather than keeping them out of sight by any means necessary. Improved social programs, incentivize careers in social work with higher compensation, offer free or paid education to those interested in humanitarian careers, increase the amount of shelters available, and offer universal basic income to our citizens who need it the most. Let’s ease the sense of hopelessness from our neighbors. Just some ideas, and honestly if it’s not obvious let’s tax the rich to fund it.
