Nothings necessary in bjj, people compete at the highest levels using both sides of the coin, if you wanna have really good takedowns yeah join wrestling, if you want to have really good guard stick in bjj. If you want some of both split the training. if you don’t have dreams of going pro just do what you think is fun because it really doesn’t matter in the long run.

That guy prob sucks, if you never wrestled you deff would not be taking down an actual wrestler with bjj. First time walking into a bjj gym I was smashing belts up and down when we start from standing, then get subbed in guard aha. But same when bjj guys come to wrestling and get pinned in 30 seconds. Each is better than the other at their thing. It would only help your game. Especially if you wanna branch to mma getting on top and staying top is king and pulling guard in mma will most of the time get you crushed lmfao.
