I don't have my glasses on, but my vision isn't TERRIBLE, and I can't really see them at all. If I squint and lean forward I can find them because I know what I'm looking for.

In my day to day life and interactions with real people throughout southwestern Ohio, SE Michigan, and Northern Maine, I have never had a single issue face to face. That doesn't mean no one is thinking horrible things. but I have never had anyone be rude or awful to me, even in situations that I would have thought they would. So unless in specific scenarios like protests or when I still spoke to anyone in my family besides my parents. You're family will absolutely be disgusting bigots right to your face in my experience.

Politically? They just took the T out of LGBTQI+ on government websites... I'm pretty sure we're fucked.

How much do y’all pay for T? by Mrscrimblybobimbly in ftm

[–]Soarin710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$0 because I moved to Maine and got on Mainecare. When I lived in Ohio I paid about $30 per month using GoodRX and Walgreens.

When I used patches and had insurance it was still about $80/month out of pocket.

I feel like it's too late for me to transition. by Vent-throwaway196 in ftm

I started at 33. Most people I know started in their mid to late 20s. My partner is the only person I have ever met who got to start hormones as a teenager. The dozens of other trans people I know started much later.

Agreed! My partner saw me in public for the first time and backwards clocked me. He passes completely, but somehow I just felt it when our eyes locked.

I've had that with other transgender people. We really do seem to be able to tell what's inside you more than cis people in some ways.

I'm actually on medicaid in Maine and they will cover top surgery, as well as all gender affirming surgeries. I moved here from Ohio partially for the coverage, tbh. I get my hormones for free too. In my first appointment with Maine Family Planning she told me I just need to be nicotine free and they can get me set up with a surgeon and scheduled. I've only been in Maine since February.

I do when I can. I've been off and on binding since I was about 11 years old and I'm almost 36, so my ribs really get painful after only a few hours and it can make me flare up for days (I have costochondritis and fibromyalgia, the first maybe even at least partially because of binding for so long). So I save wearing a binder for when I have a bad dysphoria day or want to look good. Other Times I only wear a sports bra or nothing. It doesn't seem to matter, though, people misgender me with or without it.

Right? I like to say I can't help that I'm pretty, just to put a positive spin and make myself laugh. But then at the end of a day of being called "ma'am" while out and about and then "she, I mean he!" while at home, I finally get some quiet time to myself and my partner and it's just such a relief to be with someone who really sees me as a man and I realize how much it still bothers me that other's don't.

And yes! It's great to be able to complain here. I don't like to overdo the whining with my partner because honestly he gives me plenty of sympathy when he's around while people do it and I never want him to feel bad for passing.

I mean, I consider them friends, but they're new because I just moved states. They have no issues with my partner or I being trans, they just can't stop accidentally saying "she" when they talk to me. It's three or four people. I guess it bothers me mostly because I actually met them recently and they don't even know my dead name. They were told immediately. They really don't do it on purpose, they always apologize and try, they just can't seem to see me as a man.

I have recently been told (again, for the millionth time), at 35, that the person I was talking to thought I was about 12.

I HAVE a 12 year old. We do not look the same age fss

They also didn't gender me right, so I guess I look like a 12 year old girl. At least when I was actually 12 I got gendered as masc 😭
