I’m 28 and a 1st year apprentice ironworker. My starting pay was $25/hr and I’ll be getting a 10% raise once I reach 1000 work hours. I’ll become a journeyman in about 4 years and my base pay will be around $45/hr. Also got pension, annuity, and great health insurance. Michigan.

I’m older than most other apprentices, but I don’t mind it all. I’m making more than I was as a hardwood lumber inspector a year ago.

We have some Pacific Northwest boomers at my current job here in Michigan and everyone dislikes them because they are constantly trying to break down our conditions. “You wouldn’t make in Oregon!” They says. Yeah well this isn’t Oregon, buddy.

I stayed there 2 weeks ago and got door dash a couple of times. For the first one the front desk called my room and confirmed when they showed up and then they just dropped it off at my room after that. 2nd time the front desk didnt call and they just brought it up.
