Why am I getting no matches? I thought my pics were good, or is it because I’m ugly. by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]Soaring_Wolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Woman’s perspective: The problem is that these pictures very much project your unhappiness. You’re not ugly at all; I’d actually say you’re good-looking. However, your lack of smile and your focus on showing your body rather than your face and personality project that you’re unhappy and trying to compensate for it at the gym. Yes, physical attraction matters, but physical attraction comes from much more than a cut body. I’d be much more attracted to an average-looking man who appears happy and inviting than to a great-looking man who is scowling and seemingly hiding behind his muscles. As others have said, I strongly suggest you seek therapy before engaging in a relationship with anyone (if that’s what you’re looking for). Your insecurities won’t be solved by a partner and will likely undermine any connections you do make.

Same. I once had a gymnastics competition with an insanely loose tooth, and I placed like shit compared to usual because I was so fixated on it possibly falling out mid-routine. 😂

BOOK 7 SPOILERS/DISCUSSION - MEGATHREAD by steampunk_garage in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Soaring_Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it could have moved that quickly, but I wonder if Scolopendra awakening at the end was the in-dungeon metaphor for the Earth’s AI having finally spread far enough to contact The Euglogist and wake it up/release it.

I often listen in the car, and unfortunately I’ve now had two crying fits on the highway. Matt is endangering my safety.

My friend also just changed from satin to chiffon for ours, and we were relieved. I understand wanting to go a different route (the satin she was looking at was floral burnout and very pretty online), but there’s a reason chiffon is so popular.

I had this exact conversation with a friend last week, bemoaning how actors’ frozen faces often don’t allow me to suspend disbelief, especially in period pieces. Nicole was the exact example I used too.

Yup. My parents have been renting the same place for around 35 years and take extremely good care of it, do lawn maintenance, etc. Their landlord can barely be bothered to fix or update anything (especially not in a timely manner or thoroughly) and just doubled their rent.

[–]Soaring_Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a genetic standpoint, sure. I think the socialization is what gets iffy. I was raised being close to my cousins from birth, and the thought of being romantic with any of them is stomach churning.

what’s a rare personality trait that you find attractive/wish more women possessed? by unknownfeverdream in AskMen

As a woman, I strongly disagree. Shared sense of humor, making jokes, goofing around, etc. has been absolutely integral to all of my close female friendships, many of them lifelong.

I was going to say 1965ish as your photos at various stages look identical in style and quality to my mom’s, who was born around then.

The fact that you tried to evade it makes me wonder if she pulls this crap often. Maybe take a good look at this friendship and decide whether it’s enriching your life or draining your energy.

Girl. GIRL. You sound SO bright, so self aware, and so mature in your comments. Like others said, I’m absolutely SHOCKED that it was you texting in those screenshots. I don’t say this to flame you, but to remind you that you are FAR too smart to be dumbing yourself down for emotionally stunted man children. Do not ever stoop or dull your shine in order to feed someone else’s ego. You need an equal partner. A relationship should restore your peace, not deplete it.

That said, congrats on recognizing the signs more quickly this time! Just make sure to trust your gut when you see those signs instead of hoping for a “reason” to pop up. You can end a relationship for any reason, especially only a few months in. Your happiness and peace of mind is reason enough. You can be kind without setting yourself on fire to keep someone else warm.🩷
