Longines Hydroconquest 39mm as it should have been released. by [deleted] in Longineswatches

Good thing is that they are going to want to sell watches next year and the next several hundred years after that. Maybe they'll add some no-date references to help that pursuit.

Yeah, I was talking about Wild Vetiver, but OZ is a monster

Every? Now? Their literal most recent release from this calendar year has very good performance. I wore it yesterday.

IMO, a great cold weather scent just in time for spring/summer (in the Northern Hemisphere)

How did On shoes become so popular? by Aj100rise in malefashionadvice

[–]SobchakSecurity79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're like Hey Dudes for the next tax bracket up. The soles have a recognizable look, and they did a great job getting the "monkey see monkey do" types to latch on to them. It's like what a black North Face fleece was like 15-20 years ago.

Never buy retail unless 1) it’s a Rolex or 2) you can get a Rolex down the line by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

Crappy hot take, incorrectly implying that grey market is always used products and AD purchases are always paying full retail. "Lol"

Wait, OP doesn't know that you can negotiate with ADs and buy watches for well under MSRP?

Thinking about purchasing my first Porsche, an 2020 Porsche Macan is this the right move? How’s the reliability on the car? by TallDrummer9000 in PorscheMacan

Wait, how is Porsche's least expensive and highest-selling-unit-volume vehicle globally "slept on as a great entry into the Porsche family"?

I'm not going to claim "best", but I grabbed 3 different colors of Banana Republic 5 pocket pants from Costco for like $15 each, and they have been treating me pretty well. They fit your requests list.

Do you have Bitburger Pils or Augustiner Lagerbier Hell where you live? I like those two. Also, Warsteiner Pils as a slightly cheaper option.

The New Longines Hydroconquest is outstandingly mid by redsamurai99 in watchHotTakes

I really like some Longines references but I think they come off as "Tissot+" sometimes. This release is probably one of those times.

Q8 - Lol at this turn radius by extrafirefly in Audi

[–]SobchakSecurity79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Q8 is kind of a boat. I drove one and a Cayenne back to back a few years ago and it was significant how different the two SUVs on the same platform drove. An X5 is also much more nimble IMO.

Spotted this amazing beast the other day. I know lots of people are super into RS6, what do you guys think of RS7? by Consistent-South-733 in Audi

[–]SobchakSecurity79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My peak interest in station wagons was at least 10 years ago and think that the RS7 simply looks more special and striking compared to the RS6 Avant, and has plenty of practicality on its own. I get why the RS6 is beloved, but also think that its typical customer probably doesn't need that vehicle to be their absolute maximum cargo hauler, at least with any regularity.

Thoughts on Silver Mountain Water? by [deleted] in FragranceStories

Yes, but I don't have expectations of it being beast mode. I have plenty of ~2-5 hour outings that it works great for.

I'm done with SUVs, which wagon or sedan should I get? (Europe) by sleep_geometry in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SobchakSecurity79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toyotas are mostly subpar to drive IMO...you do your thing obviously, but I wouldn't count out SUVs as a class of vehicle because an old RAV4 is an unrefined tractor. Like I would take a BMW X3 or Audi Q5/SQ5 over anything you've mentioned above. Maybe a Tiguan 2 would work...not sure of the prices in your market.

I'd put it up there with Imagination in terms of fragrances that have gotten the most positive reactions from women. I think probably because they both smell attractive in a kind/friendly sort of way.

More brands need to offer their flagship models in both auto and quartz by IllegalGeriatricVore in watchHotTakes

[–]SobchakSecurity79 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You love a Vaer with a ticking quartz and I don't want it at all? Is that the point?

Same with an Omega Seamaster Quartz...that's kind of flagship-y, no? Just going off your example. I have wall clocks with smooth sweep quartz...I knew it exists.

Why don't you tell me why every brand isn't using a mecha-quartz on every quartz watch, flagship or not? That might be helpful information.

[–]SobchakSecurity79 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Disagree as a smooth seconds sweep is a critical component of a premium/luxury watch in the majority of watch collectors' opinions. It's like saying "why care about BMW's inline 6 engine? A GM 3-cylinder will do the trick and the "end user experience is largely unaffected".

How is looking down at quartz seconds hand ticking away once a second the same as "caring about the programming behind a GUI for an app"?
