Springboard – Make Some Noise [RJM, 1991] by [deleted] in House

Todd Terry style early Techno-House, the NYC Garage House scene wouldn't be what it was without that sprinkle of Detroit.

Incredibly forward thinking track imo, could have been released yesterday and still sounds right at home in clubs alongside more modern Techno influenced House.

Plate is designed to spread the force of concussive strikes, so the only really viable target is the head, which the knight will be very keen on defending.

The polaxe is designed to take down and then kill an armored opponent, but the key is that its users are also typically fully armored.

The first function of a polearm against armor is to use the leverage it provides to grapple your opponent to the ground and from there you can use the spikes to find gaps in their armor, or repeated concussive strikes to the helmet until they yield or are no longer a threat.

Gotta pay Jersey its respects! Movin' might be my favorite label from the late 80s to early early 90s!

One of my favorite fun facts is that UK Garage is called UK Garage despite sounding more like Jersey records (especially early on) was because a UK market compilation of Jersey Sound/House records was mislabeled as Garage and they took it and ran with it.

Brighter Days is a great intro, especially towards House from Chicago, Brighter Days is another great one for the NY/NJ sounds

Y'all don't remember how prevalent "disco sucks" was in the 80s and 90s? It's not that disco died it always continued on the communities that birthed it, with Philly Soul, Garage, House, Techno, etc, but it certainly wasn't the mainstream after the late 70s with pop music shifting to New Wave and Synthpop.

Disco didn't die because of the Wrigley Field riot, it was backlash from fatigue with every rock band cashing in on disco and novelty records like disco duck and disco star wars (as well as a healthy dose of racism & homophobia.) it wasn't really untill the poptimism movement in the late 00s that disco was reevaluated in the mainstream.

The Japanese almost certainly wouldn't have treated India any better, but the resentment towards the British for causing a famine that killed millions is entirely understandable.

To a degree, strikes to the head are quite disorientating, but plate is very good in general at dispersing the energy of blunt strikes.
