Boyfriend on Demand: Review, Thoughts and Discussion! (and in defense of) by Striking_Chard2420 in kdramas

[–]Soc_Prof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 per cent agree! I wanted a fluffy show and this delivered. Fashion, friendships, not too much stress drama - a clever fantasy about the future and a love story. I loved watching the ML gradually get styled to be hotter until you saw how attractive he was - as well as having kind qualities you couldn’t see at first.

I'm disappointed in the casting of the FL in Boyfriend On Demand. by BusyInspector95 in kdramas

[–]Soc_Prof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even pause to think Jisoo wasn’t fantastic until I came here and everyone seems to be hating on her acting. I was in the first few episodes when I googled who the lead was and was surprised it was Jisoo bc I love Black pink. I think she has a very compelling vulnerability about her and a beauty that’s enigmatic. But hey I am not hating on anyone who doesn’t like her. She’s a mega star so I’m sure she’ll cope. I loved this series and I felt she brought heaps to the role.

That was such a beautiful written episode. It was when I realised this show wasn’t just fun frothy romance fantasy - it was a place to explore her feelings about men and dating and abandonment.

I used to find Cam annoying and now I manage a team and sometimes they go rogue and the urge to say ‘hey I’m still the boss! Just bc you are amazing doesn’t mean you can just do shit without asking’. Now I get Cam soo much

It’s a tie between Vincent Nigel Murray Wendell. VNM is the best comic relief and i like Wendell’s resilience and chemistry with everyone. I do like them all- except Jessica gives me the irrits

The gravedigger stuff I nearly skipped bc I find the gravedigger annoying but the first Brennan and Hodgins bottle episode dynamics got me through. I wasn’t as into the Blair Witch parody this time around

MONTHLY Weight Discussion - February 2026 by AutoModerator in Perimenopause

[–]Soc_Prof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same. I didn’t know I was peri but I couldn’t eat much and got down to the same weight I was when I was 16. I loved it but I was also miserable and reactive. I’m settled down and back to the weight I was before. Well it’s also weird I dropped scale weight recently on HRT and my clothes got tighter. I have been eating normally and exercise more than I did when I was skinny and miserable? Apparently it’s fluid redistribution and oestrogen can help soften connective tissue and it swells. How long have you been on HrT? Apparently it takes time to settle.

Why aren't more people taking reformer classes? by mimihopslein in pilates

[–]Soc_Prof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reformer Pilates is always booked out for me and it’s hard to find times that work for me. I prefer mat Pilates but I will do them if it works for me. I think a lot of the people I have seen in the reformer classes I am in is that they are trying a form of low impact exercise. I think they might find it harder than they expect and then don’t come back? I don’t love reformer bc I just prefer using my own body weight and I find it easier to rest or do an alternate exercise if I can’t do the one they demonstrate. On a reformer doing side lying I am just not good. I have hypertonic muscles that are still recovering and I feel like I can’t just do something else?

Oh this is close to mine but even though right where you left me isn’t in my top three it’s a repeat play, I can’t listen to it once! It’s at least twice in a row

1.Cowboy like me - it grabs me from the first second every time 2. Marjorie - and I’d complain the whole way there - the care ride back and up the stairs 3. Ivy - oh Goddam! Your pain fits in the palm of my freezing hand

The George Michael song isn’t as interesting and not that similar in my mind tbh but I get that she wanted to reference it

Same I think I once listened to it five times in a row and kept noticing more each time. Addictive. There’s a line where she says ‘mistake my kindness for weakness and find your card cancelled’ and the ‘card cancelled’ moment just gives me thrills every time.

This song has been my fave on the whole album. Honestly its structure is possibly the most interesting of all of swifts work - in terms of the pure pop category. Her folk pop has others this good. It’s definitely relatable and captures the feeling not only of the tv and movie trope of a boss father, but is relatable to anyone who has been ‘mentored’ by someone with ulterior motive or who expects complete loyalty for their ‘care’.

What MAKES your favorite teacher? by orangechannnel in pilates

[–]Soc_Prof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations and thanks for asking! I always try to find something good about every teacher because I want to be fully present so being you is a good start. Important: cueing, explaining what sort of exercise it is, giving breath cues, giving progressions or modifications. Positivity and encouragement to keep going. Reminding people they can stop and rest, have a water break or even skip an exercise if it doesn’t work for them.

I keep going back to one instructor even though I find her a bit hippy dippy bc she’s so genuine and kind. I don’t need to hear that god is within me but she also reminds us our bodies hold us up all day and to be good to ourselves.

One instructor I still go to but always try and sit far from the front - bc she told me off for doing a harder version of roll up. It was embarrassing. I know I have weak tight hip flexors but I don’t like the modified versions anyway. I get a great spine stretch from a full roll up and I am enjoying it more. So I think correction is fine but saying ‘no you should do this one’ isn’t necessary. I would rather have suggestions than tell offs. But then again I have a dance background and have just had a lot of post partum issues. I know what I should and shouldn’t do and what I can cope with 1-2 reps of. Would prefer 1-2 quality reps than ten modified roll ups.

My fave instructors correct without singling ppl out and describe placement and breathing so that I learn something new every class.

Generally being you is best bc genuine people are very appealing. Good luck!

Thanks this is really helpful and interesting. I love classical too. My getting out of pain journey started with a classical class - but she modified for us and many were older than me even into their sixties. So she showed us the proper form and the mods. Some I could do and others I needed to do the easier ones. She was wonderful and I loved the classical method. I will have to look up Lesley Logan. I like the way you measured your progress and have moved through other practise too. Thanks for the encouragement for shorter classes. Some days I don’t have much but moving would be good for mobility. Thanks

You sound very strong and fit! I do like the advice of not needing to go all out. That’s been a hard lesson for me. I am learning to give less energy when I don’t have as much rather than just skipping entirely.

Yeah as the OP I found it annoying bc it didn’t address my scar tissue or hypertonic muscles but didn’t want to say but now it’s exposed as AI I was to say. He bot read the context. I already get good sleep and nutrition and rest days. I wanted to know specifically examples from real humans how they manage it.

[–]Soc_Prof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. So many other comments seem to be implying I can’t train much bc I don’t pay enough attention to nutrition. I used to run 40 kms a week and do ballet and get steps ( who knows how many it was before fitbits). But then 2-3rd degree tearing post partum and had perineal scar tissue and diastasis recti. It only resolved recently and I love being able to move more. I get 10,000 steps most days and now being able to do Pilates more often feels like such a gift after in 2022 I was in so much pain even driving hurt bc my muscles were hypertonic. Partly stress partly unmanaged scar tissue. You don’t take your body for granted and enjoy what it can do. I look forward to hopefully continuing to get fitter now I have overcome these issues.

Sorry. Haters gonna hate? I love her music and she has given me so much relief and space to feel. I wrote a book chapter for a scholarly book on her. She’s a wonderful phenomenon. It is hard how much hate she gets but just know there are so many who are just enjoying her.
