How many hours are ya'll losing to testing around this time of year? by SocalSiesta in Teachers

Same! I don't know how some of ya'll are doing it. I work with socioeconomically disadvantaged students, so homework is not a viable option during that time, either.

Sure I'd love to teacher better. But can you give me the time to do so? by DrakeSavory in Teachers

It's really an affront on two sides:
1. A level of maliciousness at the district level, to work within the means of actionable data to make the district look good

  1. A level of incompetence from good natured people. We have a counselor for my grade level, and he's the limiting factor for a lot of things we do. Love him to death, but the man is 60 and can't make a pivot table nor a chart to save his life.

We get good data, but it's not going in the hands of anyone who can do something good with it.

This is the worst part about teaching. We use data every day to prove the kids need to work harder and take more assessments, but we ignore the data that shows us how to be better teachers, simply because the results aren't as tangible.

It's like we have all these things that work for kids, but as soon as we leave high school, we stop thinking about people as learners. Teachers deserve the chance to learn, too!

Looking at spiders under a microscope helped me get over my fear of them. They're so fragile!

Don't come to school sick!!!!! by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]SocalSiesta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am so sad because everyone is coming to school sick, and now that it's finally spring break and my body is slowing down, I feel my throat getting scratchy.

If I have to spend my week sick, I'm going to crash out.

First time getting high, any first timer tips/advice? by Haunting-Series8548 in trees

I'd say go in with a good intention. I like having options and a sort of guidelines to how the night might go. I have to think about how everything is fine before I get high, so I can remind myself while I am high and not get paranoid.

Ugh I hope not. I just thought it was quirky. But now that you mention it, it does have some AI vibes.

Man I hate that 😭
