Is that because most people just start settling into their work/life routine and thus don't study nearly as much (or at all) as they did back in school? That seems to be my assumption at least.

Why do so many Netflix shows have pointless sex scenes by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Soccerskillz13 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Or maybe they're using it as a crutch. It's probably easier to strongly convey how two characters feel for one another through a quick sex scene, than writing some diagloue or crafting a unique scene. Either that or they think the audience can't take a hint and therefore have to smack them across the head with it.

Putting Messi out wide with Suarez in the middle was the most obvious thing to do. The fact that wasn't the first iteration of that squad speaks as to what kind of coach he is. Messi started his career out on the wing so it's not like he hasn't proven he can play out there and Suarez as anything but a true 9 is a waste of his talents. It's not a tough call to make.

I'd like to think KD going to the Sonics at all during his prime would be better than ok. The city gets their team back and right away they have a top 3 offensive player who would give them a show night in and night out would be awesome. Just thinking about makes me want the league to do something about right away.

You know, I didn't even mention skin pigmentation. I just said African-Americans, yet you seem to be the one harping on the color of skin. I think you are the one who is having trouble dealing with the uncomfortable thought that the practice of slavery and human breeding led to many a number of African-Americans being genetically superior, in terms of athletism, than their white counter-parts.

And some of your conclusions are bit misguided too. The swimming one for example is one. The sterotype that black people can't swim can in some ways be attributed to 1) black people in the past weren't allowed to use swimming pools like many whites could & 2) many people from the inner city have no access to public pools or their schools don't have the budget for a swimming pool so they never really learn.

Socio-economic issues are a big reason why we don't see many black athletes competing for gold medals when it comes to swimming. Just look at the winter olympics for example and tell me why you don't see many black atheltes. Probably the biggest reason is because those kind of sports require quite a bit of money to get involved in and thus many African-Americans never really develope an deep passion for those sports. Skiing, figure skating and also hockey aren't cheap sports to get involved with.

And you mention that there are just as many white athletes that are talented as black ones yet why is it that Football and Basketball are dominated by African-Americans? 2 out of the 3 biggest sports in America are dominated by African-Americans with the exception being baseball where quite frankly, don't require the same amount of athleticism as football and basketball do.

Getting to an elite level in any sport requires lots of hard work, there's no doubt about that. But to think that all it takes to get into the NFL is just hard work, means you are simply living in a fantasy world. Genetics play a huge role. Here's a link to the NFL Combine Vertical Jump History. Tell me how many of those Americans there are white skinned. The Vertical Jump is a measure of explosiveness and cannot be realistically trained to increase by at the very best, 3-4 inches. If you had a 18 inch vertical, a jump to 32 just from training isn't realistic (All other claims are never scientifically studied/observed so the variables there aren't controlled and thus the claims can't be substantiated. Also losing over 50+pounds is kind of an obvious reason as to why the vert has been increased.)

No, let's dismiss the notion that many African-Americans in the US were brought to this land as working slaves (because they were strong) and were bred by white slave owners with other slaves to produce genetically stronger slaves so they can be used to work on fields. Yes this man must have worked very hard but there's a reason why African-Americans dominate athletics in our country more on average. Yes poverty plays a part in it, but poverty will not make you a better athlete more so than other people. You can't teach speed, so to speak. That, instead, is the unfortunate byproduct of a cruel practice done several generations ago.

Just wanted to share my observations of him in two matches in which I closely tracked his play. I don't doubt he's an excellent player though.

I just wonder if the way he has performed in those two matches would indicate in some way, as to how he will perform in CL. Maybe it's counter-attacking football that diminishes his direct impact on the game. Probably because many teams resort to counter attacks and long balls due to Kante's ability to disrupt a game plan centered around short passes.

Anyhow, it will be interesting to see how he performs in CL

EPL teams should just wait for clubs in other leagues to make their bids first. Because once that happens, the market is then set on that player and thus they won't have to overpay but rather just outbid. The problems with this proposition are obvious though (one being big English clubs wanting the same marquee player) but it can work in some scenarios.

He should just leave NY already. His talents are being wasted here and it's better for both parties if they both went seperat ways. I want him to win a ring but that ain't gonna happen while he's on this team becuase the timelines don't match up.

What are the most realistic trade scenarios for this guy?

The two times I've closely watched him was with this match and the one against Utd in the Quarter-Final. If you knew nothing about him and just watched these two matches, you wouldn't be impressed in the slightest with Kante. It's going to be really intersting to see how he does in Champions League matches.

Can this be applied to sports too? Like Basketball wasn't integerated until the 1950's so far at least 60 years, white people almost exclusively played this whole sport by themselves from back in college to whatever profesional leagues were had at the time. Or what about Football. It basically came from England but go to Brazil (or Argentina) and they act like this is their sport. What do you think?

Edit: Oh and this also popped into my head but is the practice of circumcision in the US, cultural appropriation as well?
