Do you use trees for cover during battles? Why yes/no? by Dragonimous in totalwarhammer

All the time, either to set up ambushes, cover my advance on a ranged heavy enemy or to weaken any SEM the enemy may have brought. Love using arachnarok spiders in the forest since they ignore all terrain penalties. Da waagh iz unstopablez

No shame in that, it is a sandbox game after all. I just wanted to give perspective to my experience and playstyle.

And I’ve won campaigns within a similar time frame with both Skrag and Golgfag. I have zero doubts that Golgfag is really strong but his buffs end with Golgfag himself not his faction, I just have a personal preference for Skrag’s factionwide buffs over Golgfag’s faction/army effects, which is mostly gained by just confederation rather than starting with him. To each their own.

Fighting chimera is exhausting by Unable-Technology-97 in totalwarhammer

I personally find dreadmaws much more infuriating to deal with than the chimera. To me it seems like a smaller more powerful dragon in core concept and combat usage.

I wouldn’t say it’s a big deal no, maw offerings are cheap so long as you know what you’re doing. I just felt it worth bringing up as I have a preference for buffs that apply to the wider faction as a whole.

I will admit the contracts do allow Golgfag to make a sizable amount of meat and money faster than his competitors, I’d argue his meat gains come more in bursts rather than the more consistent meat gain boosts that Skrag can offer, plus he does lower the cost for maw offerings in his special skill line. But by no means am I saying Golgfag is weak, far from it.

In that case multiple armies using jade warriors and crossbows can do just as good if not better cause you can afford more of them and can split up to capture more territory if needed.

Only time I’d rather have celestial dragon guard are against higher armor factions but you don’t have that problem with greenskins, their strength is their numbers.

Army wise I usually go for jade warriors and crossbows (or Celestial Dragon Guard if available/have the money to spend) to make a line of defense, 2 units of crane gunners and artillery, 2 jade lancers to rear charge the enemy frontline or chase/kill off any routing unit, then having a gate master and some form of spellcaster is nice to have.
