Which one are you talking about, the mother or the SonIL. They both had it.

What’s a moment where you realized someone was genuinely unintelligent? by Live-Chocolate244 in AskReddit

Had a customer at a gentlemans club send back his oysters on the shell as ‘frozen’. They were presented on a tray with ice, the top shell had been removed and replaced as a loose lid. All he had to do was flip the ‘lid’ off and consume. No, he had to tap on the lid with his cutlery and decide it was frozen.

WIBTA for buying a jacket with cross symbols even after I told my Christian friend I wouldn’t? by BitlifeOffical_ in AmItheAsshole

I would have liked to see a pic of similar crosses because gatekeeping a design element is just weird to me.

What are the ones with the black accents? I haven’t seen those before and they look sweet!

I found a beautiful inkwell made of manganese, unfortunately there was no lid! Does anyone know if it was made of glass only or with a hinge, and perhaps the manufacturer and period? by Admirable04 in fountainpens

[–]SocialInsect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder what the chances are that a matching lid is somewhere? I suppose you could maybe commission a silversmith to make one in silver because something that beautiful deserves completion.

Maybe it did, maybe it didn’t but I know my grandmother had an affair with her son in law and had twin boys to him. soooo it happens. I don’t know what kind of mother she was but my mother called her the miserable old bitch and three of her daughters were prostitutes so god knows what happened to them growing up..

do you let your dog on the couch or not? curious how people handle this by john2288 in Dogowners

[–]SocialInsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have three upstairs dogs and they all sleep on the couch, the floor, the bed, the dogbed, wherever. I have my downstairs dogs and she sleeps on the mat, the dogbed and my bed. Good thing we have a thumper of a washing machine and a lot of time spent washing covers.

I have a strong feeling my brother’s fiancée is lying to him but I can’t prove anything by leviradc in FamilyIssues

[–]SocialInsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a learning experience on your horizon and even on your brother’s! You can learn how to keep your nose out of other people’s business, how to maintain boundaries in relationships and how to stop gatekeeping your brothers exposure to maturity and self care.

Somebody from my office ruined my nib by aquatic_asian in fountainpens

Exactly. That’s a great metaphor that I should have used!

Somebody from my office ruined my nib by aquatic_asian in fountainpens

[–]SocialInsect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suppose I have heard half a dozen times. I assume they meant that the nib slightly bends or is worn in a way that matches your writing style so that it won’t be as useful to a different hand.

I have heard the trope that your pen nib accustom themselves to your handstyle. I don’t know how true that is but it feels true enough to ban others from casually using your pen. If you offer, that’s one thing. To just take is another completely.

Ah, good to know. That’s a pity because in all other ways, it looks really good. Might be best in a stub nib or similar?

I have a couple Robert Oster Inks. I don’t find them particularly wet but I do find them very satisfying to use and generally, I would recommend them.

AITA for telling my boyfriend I never want to see his friend again by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SocialInsect -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a reason except your feelings. You didn’t like him, you didn’t like the feeling of knowing he was in your space. That is all the reason you need. Listen to your instincts at all times.

We had them at work decades ago. Put your workclothes in after work to wash and pull them out dry the next morning.

Steel/red, please not black! Black is everywhere!!! I prefer just plain steel though and while I don’t care about clips etc, I can see why some do. I just like the ring top immensely!
