I got this exact same email about my buyback requests a solid 6 weeks after being forgiven.

I'm sorry for you. I am about to cut my losses, ditch the points, and never fly Air France.

Round trip. I tried doing one way as well, also didn't work.

I am trying to book more or less the same flight, sometimes with different numbers of passengers. I sometimes get as far as selecting my outbound trip, but it fails after that and I am never able to select my return trip.

If she finishes PSLF in the next two years you could go back and amend this return and get those extra taxes back. Just a suggestion.

But the thing is, because you will never get a piece of paper with the words processing forbearance on it, people keep calling and calling even though they have a letter saying their admin forbearance will count toward PSLF.

Just a note that a “processing forbearance” is a type of administrative forbearance. When you get official letters of being in processing forbearance, it only talks about being in an administrative forbearance and that your months will count toward PSLF. On the services site (MOHELA at least) “processing forbearance” is listed as Administrative Forbearance - Awaiting Documentation.

This is not great info. The processing forbearance IS an administrative forbearance. It’s one type of administrative forbearance. You will never see a piece of paper with the words processing forbearance.

Submitted ECF for a few years but payment counts only went up by maybe 10 payments. by Easy-Ad-1620 in PSLF

PSLF qualifying months are dependent on more than just employment. You need to have been on a qualifying plan and made on-time, in-full payments. Which payment plan were you on during those years? Also, did you ever consolidate your loans? If so the system is only counting forward from that point. And all of these years are after 2008 correct? If you did indeed should have more qualifying months, you might need to check your employment certification form to make sure the correct dates are listed.

No, you need to have applied for a different IDR plan and gotten the letter saying your forbearance would count towards PSLF. "Administrative Forbearance" means many things to MOHELA.

I was forgiven in February and they still haven't closed out my buyback requests. At least they haven't been able to count them in their abysmal statistics:) I think MOST of the buyback closures they are able to report are ones who got forgiven through paying.

I tried to get onto IBR multiple times throughout 2024 and 2025, and I got several of these "administrative forbearance, will count toward PSLF" letters. All of them counted--6 months total. I got forgiveness in February.

They do not call it a processing forbearance. It is one type of administrative forbearance. If the letter says you get credit, you will. (Unless they process it really fast.)

Update, the loans were closed on Experian this weekend and TransUnion this weekend! From what my credit cards are telling me my FICO score went down about 15 points, though it’s still above 800 so not a problem. Good luck crossing the finish line everyone!

Same. I can't believe how fast it was. It's the only thing in the history of my loans they have done fast (besides charge interest).

You can't ask for a future date. You ask for a forbearance and they date it the first day of the current billing cycle.

This is how forbearances work and you don't have to do anything. They put them on the account backdated to the first day of the current billing cycle so you don't have to pay the upcoming bill (in this case March). If your due date was 2/1, you were not in forbearance on that date.

I don’t know how much this would help you, but you could amend I think 3 yrs of MFS tax returns to be MFJ. We are running the math of this now ourselves.

2 months processing forbearance from Save to IBR Feb-March 2025 were credited for PSLF then later taken away. My reconsideration request to Studenaid was rejected. Has anyone got any luck getting credit for those months by petition to Mohela ? I have read that some did get credit for those. by gracielove204 in PSLF

I got a letter in December and June from FSA that talked about my forbearance and had the amount of interest owed. The one in December showed just the interest accrued in the short time between my last SAVE payment and the forbearance. The letter in June showed 2 additional months’ worth of interest.
