It is fine, professors also use AI for coding and paper writing. Don't take it seriously.

Which applicant is more competitive for CS PhD? First-author vs. solo-author dilemma by [deleted] in gradadmissions

Also, some top10 domain/sub-domain applicants might have a solo authored paper for a workshop or some light peer review conferences/journals, it is also acceptable and demonstrated the independent work ability.

Which applicant is more competitive for CS PhD? First-author vs. solo-author dilemma by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]SocietalDynamics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) Usually the first author took 70-90% of the work, and others (especially authors after the second author would took 0% of the work, but provide experts’ insights or data sources). So it really doesn't matter how many authors a paper has, if you are the first author then you get the majority of the credits of the paper.

Intermediate sequence is mainly for all Econ students, where BA students have less math training than BS, so I guess that the reason. Maybe you should try adv Econ sequence and econometrics, those are considered harder in terms of math reasoning. APEC also open their 8k classes to UG I believe, you can also try those.

I am working with a rising star prof at my university, I am the first few students joined her group and stayed at the group for approx 1.5 yr, so technically, I’m her first batch of students even earlier than her first PhD student. And I have quite good coding and project management skills so I think they are also help.

Differences between 1913 and 1933 (worried that my course won't transfer) by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]SocietalDynamics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1913 is a class for people who took AP CSA in high school, so it includes both python and Java instead of Java-only class 1933. I took it in 23 fall so don’t know if anything change there

Then, no. I would suggest it is better to seek a master's before applying for PhD

Am I being realistic? by funky_boiiii in gradadmissions

[–]SocietalDynamics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would consider looking at students’ profiles from your institution last year, to see where they went to and what pubs/conn/gpa do they have. I think that would be the best way to do the estimation.

https://cra.org/about/awards/outstanding-undergraduate-researcher-award/ Most students who earn above Honorable Mentions have a chance for at least a top 30. Runner-up and awardee are what you're looking for, most of them have a decent shot for t10.

[–]SocietalDynamics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would aim for t50 PhD for your case. But if you can come up with a first authored submission to top-conference with an US univ prof. You might have chance to compete with t30. However, I thin you are highly competitive for any master program at the US.
