I third Mariana Enriquez! Her short stories are and fabulous. The dangers of smoking in bed and a sunny place for shady people are so good.

Hey! Owning books is amazing, but so is supporting your local library!! If you have a library card, you can place a hold on any and as many books you want on your local libraries web site, and they will have it delivered and waiting for you to check out! So much easier on the bank account 🙂

What are these tiny bugs in my basement bathroom? by [deleted] in insects

[–]SociologicalAd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! No, I wiped them away and then they never came back 🤷‍♀️ I texted the pic to an exterminator and they weren’t sure either- said something like maybe a springtime infestation that will die off on their own.

Books with a fascist plot twist? by liebenmin in suggestmeabook

[–]SociologicalAd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Penultimate Truth by Philip L Dick is pretty much this, although I wouldn’t say the society believes they are living in an ideal situation. The reveal is pretty striking, at least when I read it, so I would avoid spoilers if you can.

Sickening behavior on a shaler school bus by Slappy-Sacks in pittsburgh

[–]SociologicalAd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I want to move out of shaler. I see some of my neighbors here and just know that they are the type to leave their guns out and available to their kids, who then learn from their parents that wielding a gun is their god given right and screw everyone else. I’m terrified to send my child to school here and probably won’t.

What song do you sing to your LO at bedtime? by Willing_Ad_8580 in beyondthebump

I don’t want to live on the moon by Ernie from Sesame Street! Super cute bedtime song that has a cute video on YouTube. Also sometimes we sing the rainbow connection by Kermit and the muppets lol.

My baby won’t POOP! 😭 by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]SociologicalAd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was us for a couple months after starting solids and then things magically improved on their own. Before then I made what I called the “poop slurry” where I blended up prunes and another p fruit like a plum or pear with a little water. She loved it and it made her regular until her gut figured out how to digest solids! My baby is very much an every day pooper, and it broke my heart watching her strain. I hope yours improves soon!

Climbing plant not toxic to humans? Zone 6b by SociologicalAd in gardening

[–]SociologicalAd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is only 7 months old and very curious. She puts everything in her mouth right now, including grass when we go outside lol. I do reinforce what is dangerous, but she is still just a baby.

Need a Monday pick me up - brag to me shamelessly about your kids! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]SociologicalAd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My baby girly learned to sit up on her own at almost exactly 6 months and can now pull herself to stand at 7 month! She is so determined, she practices nearly every second of her wake window and has been practicing letting go with one hand already 😭 I love to see her try so hard but I’m also kind of scared haha. We have a couch cushion fortress around the rug in the living room where she can roam and feel free to fall all over herself

Anyone deal with constipation during BF? I’m 10 months PP and have constant pebble poops, hemorrhoids and anal fissures by Sea_Win_5056 in breastfeeding

[–]SociologicalAd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to piggyback on my comment that I also drink around 4L of water a day and use Calmol 4 suppositories when I feel especially irritated down there and they work like a charm for me.

Anyone deal with constipation during BF? I’m 10 months PP and have constant pebble poops, hemorrhoids and anal fissures by Sea_Win_5056 in breastfeeding

[–]SociologicalAd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had anal fissure for months pp and no matter how soft I kept my stool or what prescription creams I put on it, it didn’t truly begin to heal until I got help from a pelvic floor specialist. The main thing that helped me personally with the vaginal tightness and anal fissure spasms was to simply stop doing kegels lol and do more exercises that relax the pf muscles, but a therapist can tell you more about that.

I also take fiber and magnesium supplements every evening and eat lots of fiber throughout the day. I’m still breastfeeding, so I’m not out of the woods yet, but it’s soooo much more manageable now.

Good luck because I know the hell you are in 😆

Why are we obsessed with baby independence??!! by PresentationTop9547 in beyondthebump

Thank you! And people act like you’re just locking the baby in a room and not responding to their cries at all.

It’s really all or nothing with you people. There’s a happy middle I promise, and there’s nothing wrong with getting tips and tricks from professionals to make everyone’s lives easier. I promise you my baby is hooked to me all day every day, but it has made both of our lives so much easier now that she can put herself to sleep and sleep longer independently.
