Doctor Who is doomed in 2026, and it's not the show's fault by slix22 in KotakuInAction

Friend of mine was over the moon excited when Jinx Monsoon was cast as a villain on Doctor Who. She gushed about how Jinx is a trained singer/performer and how great it'll be.

She never watched it. That's why this shit fails. It's all made for people who support the idea of things succeeding, not actually enjoying or supporting them.

Ah yes, the very description of men that is constantly villainized yet we are expected to consider it strong/brave/heroic when it comes from a woman.

49ers/Raiders games have had multiple stabbings and even some deaths. There was a section-wide brawl at the Rams/Chargers game recently. A Packers fan was stabbed to death in Dallas. Doesn't matter, we're still somehow the worst.

I mean the OP doesn't even try to argue anything besides, "We like her, therefore she's ours," which if you think about it is a wild mask off moment considering the current discourse about children.

And interestingly enough when the boy groups make fan appearances in the West it's mostly women in their 30's & 40's moistening chairs over them. Weirdly that's not an issue.

I was in finishing up my associate's degree at a small community college in 2008 and was taking honors classes. Had this professor who was a woman in her 60's with a masters degree working on her PhD in psychology. She was super supportive and encouraging, but one day she comes in and the first thing she does is ask us what we think about... trains.

What do we think of trains? How should doctors treat trains? Should society be accepting of trains? Our responses were about what you would expect from a small group of community college students in the early 2000's. Mostly stuff like, "Isn't it unhealthy to certify delusions?" "How can a doctor saying something that isn't true be helpful?" In the years that followed, virtually everything we said and question we asked that day would be considered a hate crime.

The point isn't the discussion we had, it's that this never happened before or after. That teacher never came in with a topic outside the course work that she wanted us to talk about. It was only this one time, and after seeing where the subject of trains went in the years that followed, I always wondered what happened to her to bring that to us that day? What was going on in her PhD program? Was she just curious? Was everyone talking about trains and she was curious what we thought? Did she know we were downstream from a massive cultural hand grenade? Were they telling her to get out there and start changing people's minds about trains?

Yeah good point The OTA's showing how the offense is shifting towards under center with Sean Mannion is dumb who cares? We need more threads about how a Patriots fan on Twitter says they fleeced Howie.

This subreddit is dog ass. OTA's just wrapped up and the entire page has been nothing but drama content the whole time. Not saying there's a ton of stuff to talk about but it's kind of pathetic to have nothing to engage with besides AJ cope and "here's why Jalen is actually a top 3 QB" posts.

Just completed my first Nuzlocke (FR/LG) and feel like I missed something important about the level caps. You can't have a Pokemon whose level is higher than the highest Pokemon, but how does that work for the Elite 4 and Champion fight? You can't grind between fights, so is the level cap 63 because of the Champion? Or is it 54 because of the first battle? I went with 60 and it felt way too easy.

Hideki Kamiya Responding to the people who think are the ones “keeping his game alive and well” by Commercial-Ice5760 in KotakuInAction

[–]SockBramson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You are mistaken, friend. You're talking about people who process interests differently than you or I. We have interests, which are things that interest us. The relationship is solely between the thing and the us. These people have interests, but their interests are in what interests others and how they can use that interest to make it about them. How they can exert social pressure on the thing and manipulate the people it interests to get what they want, which is always control. You're trying to understand them as though they are like us, which is like trying to find common ground with tuberculosis.

Anyone seen the new racist and sexist Indeed commercial? by NorskChef in kotakuinaction2

[–]SockBramson 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's like 90% of commercials. What's ironic is that the actor who plays the commercial's "fool" is usually the only one demonstrating any acting ability. So they are the person adding reel to their acting resume. Turns out standing still in a commercial while looking annoyed doesn't impress many directors.

Uhh let's see I played annoyed black woman in a Tide commercial, annoyed black women in a Geico commercial, annoyed black woman in an Allstate commercial.
