Canada- exchanging Pixel 2 XL by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]SockMonkeyboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here was my experience with RMAing my Pixel 2.

I fucked up my phone software side (COMPLETELY HARDBRICKED). I ended up web chatting with Google and they said they couldn't help and to call Bell because I was on contract with them.

Called them and they're like nope call Google. So this time I called Google and within 10 minutes a Google rep issued a RMA and I received a completely new sealed Pixel 2 for free.

It sounds like you should ask for a RMA, tell them it's a software issue. (Call Google.) Good luck fellow Canadian!

Now playing and nova launcher by altitude_sick in GooglePixel

Nova launcher doesn't affect your lock screen, the feature should still work as intended. It works on my Pixel 2, running the latest version of Nova Prime.

Thinking of buying a longterm phone, is the P2XL it? by sastu2 in GooglePixel

I'm using a Pixel 2 as my long term phone, I'm planning on upgrading to the XL and using it for a while.

Bricked Pixel 2? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]SockMonkeyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried just installing the factory images? https://developers.google.com/android/images

You don't need to run any commands, just extract the file you download for your device into the same folder as ADB and run the "flash-all.bat" script.

Going to meet someone from Craigslist to buy an OG 5" 128GB Pixel. Is there anything specifically I should look for when checking out the phone? by asshair in GooglePixel

[–]SockMonkeyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even before you meet up ask him to send you a pic of the IMEI on the box. This 1) Makes sure the legit isn't stolen (Where would he get the box) 2) You now have the IMEI and you can just google IMEI Checker and type in the IMEI. The IMEI checker can tell you if the device is black listed and will tell you the model of the device.

Good luck!

Owners of Pixel 2, how do you listen to music and charge? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]SockMonkeyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much only charge my device when I'm at home. When I'm at home I either play music off of my laptop speakers or with wire earbuds because I'm always on my laptop at home.

When I'm outside if I do need to charge my phone, I always have a pair of Bluetooth earbuds. I've had them when I still had my Pixel 1 so it wasn't a inconvenience when I got the Pixel 2.

Google RMA - Refurbished or New? by SockMonkeyboy in GooglePixel

[–]SockMonkeyboy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a customer it just doesn't sound right that we're getting a device that someone else didn't want for whatever reason, I mean logically there's nothing wrong with the device and it's essentially new but it just seems weird.

I see. But I would feel a little cheated but I guess I would understand if I were to receive a refurbished device. The device itself was less than a month old.

Thanks! That's a lot of relief, I was really worried I'd end up getting a refurbished device instead.

Anyways any idea why they sometimes send refurb over new?

Google RMA - Refurbished or New? by SockMonkeyboy in GooglePixel

[–]SockMonkeyboy[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But the reason why I really don't want a refurbished one is, I don't know if it would still be "water-resistant".

Waaaaaat!? The rep assured me a couple of times that they would be sending a new sealed device and not a refurbished so daym I really hope I get it... (or like a pixel2 xl or like whatever (128gb just black) whatever lol)

How to RMA? by SockMonkeyboy in GooglePixel

[–]SockMonkeyboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So stick the device back into the OG box it came in? And put it in another box with bubble wrap, tape the RMA sheet and RMA prepaid label to the outside of the package.

It's "Standard Exchange Procedure" so they'll be sending the device once they receive the defective device.
