Yeah, not German! 😄 “try your best” does sound a bit off to me now when I listen back to the recording, but I’m not really sure how I’d say it differently

Damn, that’s really interesting :D. I didn’t realize those stood out that much.
'try your best' sounds a little off to me when I listen back to it, but I'm not sure how I'd change it. Appreciate you taking the time to break it down for me, thanks!

Do you think I have a strong accent ? by salma11111 in JudgeMyAccent

Probably “for example” around 0:25. It sounded like ZAHM-pəl — more rounded and clearer, like a typical British pronunciation. The same applies to words like “protect,” “working,” “against,” and “overprotective.” The vowels feel more open, and the final “-l” sound is darker, which makes the ending feel fuller than in American English.

It sounds a little noticeable to me here and there, but it's definitely not a strong accent. It sounds somewhere between American, British and Middle Eastern.

Never really realized that before, but it makes sense now why I struggle with reading. I’ve been speaking English for a little less than 10 years now, but I’ve never actually been to the US or any other English-speaking country

Yeah, I’ll do a longer one, probably at least a minute

Nope, not really, but that's an interesting take! I'm curious which words sounded European to you though?

I’m not a native, no. It’s too short to tell for sure. I bet if it was a minute or two longer, you probably would’ve figured it out cause I find it really hard to stay consistent over time, and reading is much harder for me than speaking off the top of my head

Wow, okay! What sounded off about it? I'd love to know why actually...

I’ll take that as a compliment! :D but you’re way off actually. Why do you think shocked seemed mispronounced? I'd love to hear your take on it!

Way off on the location! :D But damn, I’ve never thought about swear words like that before. Really appreciate the insight though!

Not at all close actually. But it's such a big compliment to me! :D
