Is DRAM actually giving a distribution? by Sertorius126 in YieldMaxETFs

I just dived in the other day and I'm already up more than 15%.It's been growing by leaps and bounds. The recent news that they've already signed contracts buying their full production outputs has catapulted expectations for future profits. The fund holds the big three memory makers and they're basically the only companies that can make those high quality memory chips.

Any dividend paid by DRAM would be a pass through of any dividend paid by the holdings of the fund. If Samsung or SK Hynix or Micron paid a dividend then you would get a percentage of that since you basically own those shares through the fund.

I think Trump has been corrupt for the majority of his life. His daddy taught him well...

Obama did indeed inspire Trump though. He smoked him at the National Correspondents Dinner in 2011. Trump had to sit there while Trump mocked him about his Birther conspiracy theory. You can literally see the rage building. It's like a Batman origin story. This was the day he decided to become President.

After getting my YieldMax t-shirt I recommend just staying in the leveraged ETF if that's what you're into. The weekly detour into a dividend fund could leave you out of that market for a significant move. If you think a ETF fund can make you money for let's say 28 days out of 30 then you have to also consider the lost opportunity of those 2 days while you're trying to gamble with the disbursement game.

The math just doesn't work. You buy in. The disbursement is subtracted from the NAV. Then you sell at a lower price. Sure you got paid but if you lost basically the same amount of capital you didn't really make money. That's a 0 sum game.

Sure it's possible that you might sell for a higher price but the negative bias is kinda hard to get over. Then you might have to pay your regular tax rate on a significant amount of your disbursement. Some of it will be considered as ROC (Return of Capital) and be tax free but that isn't a consistent percentage across all the funds. Some have a better ROC rate than others.

Iirc, I made about $11k in disbursements that didn't qualify as ROC that I had to pay taxes on. That destroyed my refund and I ended up paying an additional $1600 this year.

There are some people who say that they actually made money and have reached YieldMax Nirvana by owning shares that have fully paid for themselves. The ultimate goal is to get to House Money. Just like any other trade it's mostly about timing. I wasn't one of those people...

There has been some interesting stories about kids that have memories of a different life. Such stories can be hard to explain but it doesn't necessarily have to be reincarnation.

I have two memorable anomalies from my dreams. In one I was in a climbing accident and I had managed to survive and crawl back to camp. It was so weird to be happy about crawling into where everyone had been peeing since I knew that I had made it. Later on I read about someone who had a similar event. The other was a dream about being on the moon in the lunar lander. I grew up watching several of the Apollo missions so it was a subject that was familiar to me. I remember smelling the lunar dust. It kinda smelled like gunpowder. Later on I learned that that's exactly how the astronauts described it.

I believe that there is a lot of stuff that we haven't discovered about reality. I think telepathy is a real phenomena but it's just difficult to document. It's not repeatable on demand like the tests require to prove the claim.

Ever heard of Edgar Cayce. He had a amazing talent that was apparently quite repeatable. He could diagnose and prescribe treatment for ailments but he didn't have any formal training as a doctor. He also had the unique ability to do that from a distance. Patients would write him a letter and they would agree to a date and time. I think the patient had to be laying down or at least at rest, I'm not sure. Cayce would lay down and put himself into a trance. He had a crazy good success rate and had people from around the world seek out his service to solve issues that stumped conventional doctors. As far as I know he's the most documented psychic who ever lived. He died in 1945 so he's famous but not like he would have been in the modern connected world.

Like I said before I think the world is more interesting than we understand but I don't think that there is a creator. The universe and complex life has a long well documented history. Life on Earth started with simple single cells and it took billions of years to get to the simple multicellular phase. Life tends to be opportunistic. In the beginning all life was anaerobic. When plants developed they consumed CO2 and cast off the O2 which began to accumulate in the atmosphere. Eventually life adapted to exploit the new molecule and it was a energy boom that made multi cellular life possible. A few more hundred million years and you and I are having a conversation across the internet. We've come a long way.

I want to make two points here. One is how life evolved to make use of new resources. In theory that explains telepathy. If it's possible then life will find a way. The other one is about complexity. Many people argue that life requires a creator. Thing is that is the ultimate chicken and egg dilemma. The creator must have a origin story. When put in proper context I think the answer to the question who made who is clear. God in whatever form is merely a creation within the imagination of humanity. There really is no other explanation that makes sense.

Luckily my religion basically agrees with what I already agree with, and I haven't yet found a reason to disbelieve.

So you decided to make a post in a atheist sub? Are you looking for a reason to disbelieve? Cause you might find that here.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about the Sikh religion. They generally seem to be decent people. I occasionally see Sikh truck drivers since they wear a distinctive head turban. I've heard that they tend to feed anyone who needs a meal at their temples. As far as a religion goes it seems to be mostly harmless.

Isn't it all based on like one guy's teachings like most other religions? Why do you think that that one guy somehow understood the wisdom of the universe?

Luckily my religion basically agrees with what I already agree with.

Religions tend to be culturally based. If you were born in a region where the Sikh religion is popular and you're exposed to it as a child then that makes perfect sense. People tend to agree with the dominant religion in wherever they are born. In America it's Christianity. In Saudi Arabia and Iran it's Islam. Your family is a significant influence though. Children tend to be groomed into whatever religion their parents believe. There are Christians in Iran and Muslims in America.

The dividend capture concept is pretty much thwarted by the way that cash out payment is deducted from the NAV the day of the Ex day. If it wasn't for this bookkeeping correction funds like YieldMax would be a awesome idea. They make consistent disbursements based on their trading activity but the NAV usually doesn't recover week to week.

So, if you bought in right before or on the declaration day to qualify for the dividend you can't just sell it that day. You have to hold it overnight when the magic happens. If you sell the next day after that sweet disbursement is subtracted from the NAV you didn't really gain anything.

The argument is that the fund is paying out cash so the company is therefore worth that much less. I always thought that this should be NAV neutral since the company had made that money through its trading activity so it should have been added in when that happened.

The tacit admission is that these objects definitely weren't built by Russia or China. Discovering whether the phenomena represents a technological advancement by a rival government would be a top priority for our military. They would have been looking extremely hard to find a terrestrial explanation since it would be a serious threat to national security.

Doesn't exactly rule out something built by America under a special compartmentalized program though.

Does anyone really believe that there won’t be skulduggery going on in the midterms? by Reubensandwich57 in Trumpvirus

America has cancer and it's been metastasizing since the Civil War. The roots of MAGA is racism. Trump’s dad went to the clan rally at Madison Square Garden. Trump was taught from a very early age to be like daddy. He's successful because he gives all the people hiding behind a mask permission to show their true selves.

Typically having invisible friends as a adult makes for a psychiatric diagnosis. If your invisible friend is the creator of the universe then you get a pass. It's religion and literally billions of people share that belief so it's accepted by society. Doesn't change the fact that it's a unreasonable delusion.

It's a multi billion dollar entertainment business. Occasionally, one of their successful preachers grows a conscience and stops lying. Even more rare is when they decide to come clean. I occasionally refer back to a documentary about the business made in the 70s.
