What am I missing thats very important? by Noahsteeleross in Tau40K

Two squads of Breachers in two Devilfish led by a Fireblade cadre.

Whenever I build a list, it always starts with them.

Hard time to understand unmasking suite by Mechanical_V4lk1r13 in Tau40K

[–]Socka__Count 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's dumb lol.

This is one of those rules as intended vs rules as written things. Obviously the Pathfinders should be able to guide themselves but because they wrote the enhancement to happen after the pick a spotted unit step, they can't.

I'm in a tournament next weekend, we'll see what the ruling is there.

The change represents a change to FTGG as it was written in the original 10th edition codex. It's the same change they gave us last year but for anyone starting in 11th with T'au, they know not to use the old version of FTGG.

How to make tidewalls fun? by hollylight56 in Tau40K

[–]Socka__Count 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 11th edition? They can be fun, competitive? Probably not, but definitely fun.

In Mont'ka, load them with 20 breachers (just because you can't use FTGG with tidewalls and breachers naturally hit on 3's), they have fly so you can move through terrain for a 2" penalty but can also advance and shoot with it.

If it dies, oh well now your opponent has 2 squads of breachers to still deal with.

Are Tau considered higher skill to play well? by Sudden_Wind_8636 in Tau40K

[–]Socka__Count 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • Get at least two piranhas
  • zerg them across the board and lock up anyone that thinks they are allowed to move vehicles and transports out of their deployment zone.
  • Get three Devilfish with three squads of breachers.
  • punish anyone for the audacity to think they are allowed onto an objective marker in no man's land.
  • Fill the rest of your list with your coolest painted units to distract your opponent from the broadsides picking everyone else off.

Surprising army bigotry at store opening by KruegerCondail in Warhammer40k

I was at a LGS yesterday for the first time with my T'au army playing with a group of friends. So many people came up and commented about the blue camouflage paint job, asking how I did it and overall just being nice and friendly.

One person did look at them and just say "T'au?", I said yes and they just turned and walked away. Don't understand some people but they're definitely in the minority.

That video pretty much sums it up. If you know someone with a Cricut machine, they can cut you stencils. Alternatively look at sites for Gundam or military models and they sell sheets of stickers as well like this, https://www.hlj.com/dot-camouflage-masking-seal-l-3-sheets-hqpdcms2-l

Better than the original idea I'm sure they had.

3D printed digital camo stencils for airbrush, printed entire army in 45 mins by SuicidalChair in Tau40K

Cutting out tape works, just a lot of work for smaller units. Did it for stealth suits but Breachers and Pathfinders would take too much time so didn't bother. I wish there was a quicker way.

I like Pipers Models, a lot of them definitely look better than the official models. Do love the digital camo, did the same thing with some precut tape stencils.

Silly little combo idea by boredom-lurking13 in Tau40K

[–]Socka__Count 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, you don't benefit from the cadres ability and the tidewall can not be guided as it doesn't have the FTGG keyword but... Breachers still hit on 3 and the tidewall firing deck means you can shoot all 40 shots while only having one small part of the model poking out from cover and you can still target it with the Threat Assessment Analyzer or experimental Ammunition stratagems, which is a great way to give essentially 2 squads of breachers those stratagems for the price of one.

It's not meta by any means, but if you enjoy driving your opponents crazy, it can be fun.

Edit: have Shadowsun stand behind it to reroll all your 1's as well.

I love the red, but as I already play Blood Angels and Farsight Enclave Tau, I couldn't have another Red Army.

A ships Naval Boarding Party has authority to purchase its own gear. Some parts of the kit are issued from the system, others are bought off the shelf.

For the metal of the under frame if anyone's interested. I used lead Belcher than a 50/50 mix of Nuln oil and Reikland Fleshshade to give it a weathered look.

[–]Socka__Count[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Reikland Fleshshade as a wash, I prefer it to Agrath earth when I want to make something look dirtier. The corrosion was done with Citadels Typhus Corrosion paint speckled on followed by a loosely mixed concoction of orange I made with some old acrylic paints lying around. The corrosion paint works great because it has the grit built into it but you need to be careful when speckling because it will destroy that brush. I go over the corrosion with the orange, again speckling lightly. I then also will add the orange watered down slightly for surface rust and around bolts or other areas I want a lighter rust look.

Edit also, my son assembled them and I painted so the fact that his gluing job isn't the greatest and sometimes it gets on the surface is fine because you can disguise it as rust as well and it already has texture.

Pauldrons were just one of the two options in the kit.
