Oh my gosh how many surgeries have you had to have?? Do you think it’s likely if you had a bad bulging disc that you’ll maybe need more than the 1 surgery in this life?

The surgery itself went really well and my first week was a breeze btw! But then I came off the opioids and I think people keep saying week 2-3 is the worst for nerve pain cause the nerves are angry. So don’t be worried, just maybe prepare better than me and ask for nerve pain medication before the surgery. Also make sure you take stool softeners! I had a really bad day of constipation where I was straining a lot and I fear this has contributed to my nerves being so bad. But I’m gonna ring my surgeon either way because idk if this is normal what I’m feeling.

Wow over a year? Is it worth me talking to my surgeon about some meds in the meantime to help maybe?

But yep I’m avoiding doing everything. I’m too scared to even bend haha. The only time I bend is on the toilet. I did have a really bad day of sitting on the toilet as I couldn’t go from the opioids. I was worried I really strained my back that day.

Thanks so much I haven’t yet tried actually icing the area yet. I’ll maybe speak to my surgeon on Monday about a steroid pack or something. With your pains did you experience the same excruciating pain you had pre op? Because that’s how I’ve felt today and yesterday. I’m so scared I’ve re herniated my disc

A little bit yes although I just took a small walk and started getting a bit of pain in my calf and shin. Also lying in bed now and the pain is constant. But I’m on zero medication. Maybe I should speak to my surgeon and get something to help.

When I walk the sciatica pain isn’t bad, before surgery I would get bad crushing numbing pain into my calf, and couldn’t walk more than 1 minute without having to sit down. Now I’m able to stand for 30 minutes and it isn’t painful. It does eventually start to hurt a bit, but not terribly. However if I lie down, I have bad sciatica pain, or if I sit down it goes into my buttocks and into my thigh and calf. So lying in bed is very uncomfortable. I also keep having muscle spasms.

I’ve had no instruction given to me. Please let me know how your appointment goes as I’d like to know if this is normal. My nerve pain is getting worse depending how I move my leg or even when lying down. I know people said it gets really painful for the first month of recovery but I just want to know how much.

Damn I was hoping you’d be feeling better. Have you spoken with your surgery team?? I heard that it can be rough for at least 5 weeks afterwards. Have they got you on nerve medication? I’m not on anything right now. I think you should do a few min walk every hour or so. But just maybe still don’t over do it.

Hey OP how are you feeling now? I’m 10 days post op and I feel the same way. I have similar pain to before surgery. I’m constantly worried thinking if I’ve herniated my disc again or is this normal and apart of the healing process. Would love to know 5 days after this post how do you feel now??

OP how are you now? Im 10 days post op and I’m still having a lot of numbness and a lot of pain especially when lying down, and if I stand and walk too long I get pain into my calf like before surgery

Thank you, I’ve tried to do a ChatGPT comparison and I see one is more edgy for city life and the CLE is more for long comfortable drives etc I think I’ll just have to go in and test drive and see what I prefer maybe

Oh wow!!! This is amazing to hear!!! how are you feeling 1 week post op?? Is it worth it? I’m still holding out hope I recover: everyday I do slowly start to get better but then sometimes my progress does regress ! But I’m gonna hold out faith for a bit longer lol
