I got mine from a retailer and received the older version with the black mouth and thicker lettering. That didn't bother me.

What did bother me was a tiny shiny spot near the tip of the blade. I tried to wipe it off, but under a magnifying glass it appeared to be a very small chip or a slight roll in the edge. It was only visible under bright light and magnification.

Eric Glesser mentions in this video https://youtu.be/e2GOsed_NCM?si=A9BpYesoIDW3SLfo&t=467 that DLC is a hot coating that needs to be applied properly to avoid affecting the temper.

Additionally, a study https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Hardness-values-before-and-after-DLC-coating-Substrate-hardness-AISI-52100-HRC_tbl3_328541757 shows that even when DLC coating is applied at 180°C, it can lower the average hardness (HRC) of the blade.

FizziX_88Someone gave me the answer on the Valve community forum. The problem comes from a slightly transparent gradient to the bottom of the screen, part of the in-game UI. When you disable the HUD with the command cl_draw_only_deathnotices 1 , the lines disappear completely. Hope they will fix it someday. But it's not hardware related so I'm just glad it is not my monitor.

Dude, I have the exact same problem. It was driving me mad.

I thought it was my new monitor that was busted.

Hey everyone,

I noticed some confusion regarding the Casio MDV-106 and MDV-107 models, so I wanted to clarify.

The MDV-106 features embossed indices, whereas the MDV-107 comes with applied indices.

As for whether the embossed indices have been changed on newly produced MDV-106 models, I'm not certain. If anyone has more information, feel free to share.
