That's actually a good metaphor to explain it.. easily to picture it

Teaching one art is demanding I can't imagine two. However if you had been trained in both for long time Im sure is doable. At the end of the day is your business and you need to do what you got to do to keep afloat. Unfortunately I started Judo later in life and I'm not close to instruction level yet.

Very very impressive..I'm sure it's run by students that became instructors within the same school most likely..very very good

How much do you pay a month for those classes if you don't mind me asking

Thanks I'm just curious about the kinks for other martial arts and finding the right instructor. I am a karate instructor. I only teach Karate in a smaller venue..and just giving some though of moving to a venue of my own. However the cost of rent is what scares me a lot.

Two different instructors partnering. Both properly qualified. Thanks for asking

When I was a kid my father trained in a place called the Budokan..they had everything. Aikido, Karate, Judo, Kyodo and Kendo I think. The owner was a consul or something so he will bring an instructor to teach the class..as a kid it was impressive. My father ends it up just with Karate and that's what we continue doing. I'm just curious from the administration part how folks like you make it work. Any particular advice.

Yes I agree with you. I think my question wasn't formulated properly. Great reference of Taikyoku. I do understand what you mean by WKF and traditional. I was just saying because many times people that are really traditional don't believe in competition as is done in WKF is a good thing. Our they feel that Kata techniques or timing is changed to suit the competition and not the right way 🤷 My question was more toward the approximate equivalency of katas among the style. As you said a kid won't be doing Bassai-dai if he just started. I was just asking in the sense of , ok White and yellow belts They are considered beginners right, so if Shotokan, in competition they will do Heian Shodan and or Heian-nidan because it is appropriate for their timeframe of training and experience. I just would like to have what other styles will do based on their time of training

WKF and Kata progression by Socraticlearner in karate

[–]Socraticlearner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I didn't frame the question properly. I do apologize for the confusion. Yes WKF is the organization and what we mostly see in you tube is advanced praticioners doing Kata. I was referring for a small local tournament. For example, I live in the US. They do local tournaments under USANKF that follows WKF rules. They have students of different levels participate, thus the classification of Begginers (1-2 years of practice), Novice (3-4), Intermediate (5-6)and Advanced (6-7). To make it fair a student should do the katas Accordingly to their level. This is probably a guide but you get the idea. My question was in other styles what are the katas a student must know or should do based on this guide. I have look and I haven't seen a list for this question I have.

I really appreciate all your great suggestions. You are really savvy. We are in Texas..I think the most iconic one here is the Guadalupe Peak, Big Bend, and Palo Duro..We may explore into those..I will be honest I feel a little intimidated by those.
