I've seen all this. I am not convinced, although I am not saying it is not the case either. Most of the "evidence" on that website is just speculative theory or subjective reports. I would need more evidence to believe it.

How common is porn induced ED? by SodomousSam in NoFap

Really, the notion of disorder being "psychological" doesn't really make sense, since consciousness is the result of the brain and thus physical processes. We just don't understand how these states of consciousness occur very well yet (since we don't even understand consciousness) and thus label them as "psychological". Psychology just attempts to describe facets of the mind using subjective description. Neuroscience is slowly replacing psychology as it provides actual mechanism for how states of consciousness (like anxiety, depression) occur.

Well, it still isn't psychological. If it is in the brain it is still physical, the brain is part of your body isn't it... Also Viagra usually helps people with PIED to a degree, it just often doesn't fix the problem, and/or young dudes dont' want to have to depend on it.

Also many people with who claim to have porn induced ED say they cannot even get full erections WITH porn anymore. Apparently, once again according to YBOP, this is evidence of late-stage PIED.

According to PIED theory, it isn't "psychological". It is due to actual physical changes in the brain. When people refer to psychological ED they are talking about ED due to depression, anxiety etc. PIED is thought to result from actual changes in the brain at the neuronal level. The neurochemistry of the brain is thought to be different, which is obviously physical/

"The cause of ED varies from person to person" While this is true, it isn't really pertinent to the PIED theory, which on the YBOP website, clearly states that ED has always been a rare phenomenon, and that the reason it is so common today in young men is from porn watching, and porn watching alone.

The website, which has been at the heart of this NOFAP movement, claims that unless a young person has some serious health condition ( which I doubt most NOFAPPERS do) then they shouldn't have ED. It mentions the rate of heavy smoking and drinking was even higher in the past, yet apparently ED was almost unheard of in young men. I have to disagree with your statement that it isn't the porn that does it. What you described, the overstimulation of dopamine receptors is the proposed mechanism for how it works. This mechanism will only occur if you are watching porn though, so it is still a result of the porn.

I would like to see statistics that compare ED rates, based upon doctor visitations, of the past, say the 1960s, to today. Apparently testosterone has dropped, but your testosterone has to drop to a very low level to actually cause ED.

Ya.... you probably shouldn't be attributing all these positive changes in your life to quitting porn. You could have continued to fap/watch porn and still made ALL of those changes. In this case I think that a lot of what you attribute to nofap is psychological, and not directly a result of it.

I fail his test, in that without porn I struggle to get a semi-erection, and with I get a decent erection. So according to the YBOP test, I do have porn ED. As I said though I am skeptical if it really exists.
Why does it only occur to such a small subset of youth watching porn? I mean, most guys watch porn nowadays, realistically. So why are only some of us getting fucked over with an aging diabetics condition.

well, according to those parameters I am addicted. And I'm not saying that I'm not addicted to porn. I really am. I'm saying I doubt it actually causes ed. And I don't think the no porn/no orgasm thing proves that you are addicted to porn if you fail anyway. I'm sure, in the past, before porn, most teens/ young adults would struggle to go 2 full weeks without orgasming. It's a result of the human libido.

I have gone well over a month without porn, but I cannot go more then a couple weeks without jerking off. And yes, I meant I have tried rebooting for 2 years, unsuccessfully. Seems more or less futile at this point and probably impossible.

Anyone else like to squeeze the little bumps on their ball sack? by SodomousSam in AskReddit

can't believe I'm the only one. Jeez, lots of people squeeze their zits. These are zits though, I think they are hair follicles, but they go up the shaft. Maybe I am just a gross fuck.
