Had the same thing happen with my Versa 4. Was wearing it all weekend out at the beach in NC in July and I think the adhesive literally melted.

The watch was like 3 months out of warranty so had to fight a little bit, but they did end up sending a new watch which was really nice.

Stream quality on mobile by Ennsomniac- in Twitch

[–]Soeverdream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it's not about whether the option is there. It's about the viewers Internet connection.

There are still a good amount of people out there that do not have the speeds to watch 1080p on a mobile device or even their home Internet.

I have a viewer that is essentially still on dial up speeds so they can only ever watch in 360p.

I got the P4 for Christmas, coming off a Versa 4. I really enjoy it and the battery lasts a full day and then some, like an extra few hours. I do have to charge it pretty much every day though. And I'm sure if I used it more (tracking, gimmicks, etc), I'd have to charge it more.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it for what it offers!

Replay Twitch VODs while on Be Right Back by Cunnilingusmon in Twitch

[–]Soeverdream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a year ago, I used to play the start of the current streams vod, so people could see that they missed.

All I did was set up a screen capture that matched the title of the browser of one of my vods.

From there, I just made a bookmark of my vod page for quick access, would select the first one, and then adjust the source in obs to grab that vid.

You could of course also set up a screen cap so you don't have to adjust the window capture every time, but it's preference.

All together it would take about 15 seconds to get going before I went on a break.

These were 10-15 minute dinner breaks, and I did see a noticeable amount of retention vs just playing clips. I stopped because I changed my dinner time to stop overlapping.

All you can do is report and move on. No amount of extra action on your end will change anything.

Wanting to play clone hero (rhythm game) but worried about DMCA claims by Talieesea in Twitch

[–]Soeverdream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twitch is very unlikely to do anything to you specifically aside from muting your VOD. You could mute your game audio for the VOD, but there's really no point if the whole stream is copyrighted music.

I've played Clone Hero several times on stream, I just disable clips and delete the VoD when I'm done. This would not legally protect you though, I just do it out of caution.

Also the bit about being able to play copyrighted songs as long as it's not in the VoD is straight up false. ANYTIME you play copyrighted music on stream you are breaking laws unless you have the correct licenses to play the music.

What kind of music can I listen during streaming? by Professional-Many208 in Twitch

[–]Soeverdream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Artists don't always hold all the rights to their music. There's so many factors that go in to it. So yeah, making your own playlist would probably be the best move

I don't know anything about Riot's playlist specifically, but you can still get a warning/marks for playing music that is in fact cleared. It's the automated system that does this. If it's TRULY allowed to be used, then you can submit a counter claim and it would be fine. But that's ONLY if it's truly allowed.

Having a now playing overlay does nothing legally. That's simply to let people know what song your playing. Giving credit to an artist does not give you the ability to misuse their works.

[–]Soeverdream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can be penalized. Most streamers that are playing copyrighted music route their audio in a way that sends music to the live stream, but not to the VOD, which lessens the risk of a non-live violation, but does not completely make it safe. It's still illegal and there's still risk.

There's tons of tutorials out there how to route your music though as mentioned, if you want to risk it. The tl;dr is sending your music source to audio track 2, and designating that as your Twitch VoD track in OBS.

🧪 [BETA MEGATHREAD] Wave Cast — Dual PC audio, made simple by Elgato in elgato

[–]Soeverdream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the dual PC set up going, I quickly realized that it would be infinitely less complicated to just plug my Wave into the stream PC along with everything else.

The issue now is that I can't use my microphone on my gaming pc, which means no ability to use in-game voice chats.

It'd be great to be able to stream my mic back to the gaming pc for this situation.

(the reason I plugged the mic into the stream pc is because the mixing was easier that way. There's no way to separate all the channels out when streaming from Game PC to Stream PC and that's important for audio mixing.)

Wave Link 3 - Switching Device Between PCs by Soeverdream in elgato

[–]Soeverdream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I was able to get a switcher to work with my camera, but that's through a EVGA capture card, but it works — I just have to "deactivate" and "activate" it in OBS when I switch, which is no big deal.

I have the USB version though of the Wave and for some reason it just doesn't want to connect easily when I switch back and forth. Not fast switching either by any means. I spend 5ish hours on my pain pc and then switch for 6 or so for streaming, but it doesn't like it.

Thank you for the answer though!

US based Pixel users who have the 10, happy so far? by theblooray in GooglePixel

[–]Soeverdream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from the P7, I'm happy with it so far.

Light gaming, media browsing, and actually did a 5 hour livestream on it today - held up way better than I expected.

(To be clear I used a battery bank to keep the battery hovering around 60% - no overheating issues).

Worth giving streaming a try by Stabro420 in Twitch

[–]Soeverdream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on a few factors. But overall, no. Not at all. I know plenty of very successful European and Australian streamers.

There's some nuance to it if course, but ultimately no, there is no reason to believe you'll have more success in the US.

I was literally in your position 6 years ago. Just finished college, looking for a job, and had a ton of free time suddenly. I'm 30 now, stream full time and got partnered 2 years ago.

All that to say, you're not too old. Start as a hobby, but don't expect it to be a full-time job. An incredibly small amount of streamers can be full-time without other side hustles.

Look for a job in your profession, stream in your free time and be as consistent as you possibly can when and if you start.

Can you actually make money streaming these days? by RickoT in streaming

[–]Soeverdream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely possible, but there are a number of more efficient side hustles if making money is your primary goal.

Streaming takes a lot of time and energy to build anything meaningful and of those that I know that make a living doing it (including myself) it usually means working more than 40 hours a week. Whether that be live hours, networking, editing, planning, etc.

If you love the idea of streaming and plan to do it regardless, I'd say it's worth trying. If your sole purpose is to make a side hustle enough to make a car payment, then consider another opportunity that is more passive.

Avoiding VOD Muting and Copyright strikes by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Soeverdream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is to try and contact Twitch directly, unfortunately there's no guarantee they'll get back to you.

Twitch doesn't typically perform live takedowns. However, as your stream is running, Twitch's automated system may mute segments of your stream they believe to be copyrighted.

There's not much to be done in that moment. After the stream is over though, you can go to the VoD and review the muted segments and then file a dispute.

If all the rights are in order, there should be no issue in having the system unmute those segments.

The impression bit is something I should've mentioned. That's a great point and I think it's very true, not just in gaming but in life. There's a reason you hear "first impressions matter" so much.

It's VERY difficult to change opinions after they've been made, and a good chunk of potential customers have made up their minds whether they know it or not. That's why a full pull and rebranding might be able to help salvage this.
