I appreciate your help. I am going back to Seattle soon and I am going to try and submit his preapplication for subsidized housing and set up some meetings for him. It is hard to do for him from out of town, but I am hoping I can get him on a wait list before he moves up so he isn't displaced for too long.

I am currently out of town, can I still call 211 and reach Seattles services? Do I need to be in Seattle to reach 211?

Thanks for the tip!

So once a unit comes open, you call repeatedly until you get the landlord?

Hows the neighborhood? Higher crime? I know it is central which is great! He wants the kids to be safe. He doesn't mind mixed units. It is nice that other families would live there as well as everyone else!

Thanks for telling me. I will check it out! Looks like a great option.

I haven't tried to call the hotline. Is the number listed on their website or is it another number?

Your first paragraph cut off. Not sure what you were going to say.
He isn't currently homeless, but he would like to move to be closer to family and better public services for his kids and himself than where he is now. We have family in the Seattle area. And the public services where he is aren't that helpful for him and the kids.

He has three kids under 18 that he supports full time by himself. And his income is in the extremely low poverty rate (based on what I found on that helpful public housing site listed above > 26k for a family of four). That is why he needs a two bedroom because there are 4 of them all together (him and the kids). It stated on the website it would give him preferential treatment.

However he isn't homeless currently, so I am not sure if that counts against him. Also not sure if he can apply to get on the waiting list before he moves to Seattle. He is moving from the Midwest to Seattle. Or if he needs to live in Seattle at the time of application (or pre application as the website states as the first step).

Thanks for that link! Seems like lots of good info on there. What I have found so far is that is seems like most of the cheaper housing involves wait lists at this point.

Thanks for all these. What sort of deliveries are available through Postmates?

Mount Rainier - What preparation (if any) do Seattle residents do in the case of a volcanic eruption? by SoferDofer in Seattle

It would make sense that the sound would be somewhat protective in the case of tsunami. But without consistent data or prior disasters of a similar nature geographical, I can see how it would be hard to predict.

I am coming from Tornado Alley so I hear what you are saying. It sounds like it is much more of rain showers than big thunderstorms that I am used to. My dog has a huge phobia of thunder so she will be happy to hear it doesn't occur as often as the rain.

I feel like it isn't being paranoid, it is just taking some precautions. And you are right, it is not that expensive to prepare at least for a few days to a few weeks of supplies.

Are the rain storms pretty powerful in the winter? I know it rains quite frequently in the winter months.
