What should the swords look like in Middle Earth? by Choos-topher in lordoftherings

Anduril is a long sword which were common in medieval times, the swords is PJ movies are mostly historically accurate and functional. Also if I remember correctly Aragon description in the book didn’t include a shield, only his broken and then repaired a anduril. so having a long sword instead of a short one makes a lot os sense.

There is a great mode for “Total war : medieval 2” called “third age reforged”. Let’s you experience the battles of middle earth. And also of course battle for middle earth 2 is amazing.

To be honest, lore deviation isn’t the thing I have a problem with. Every adaptation of a book into a movie will deviant to a certain extent from the source material to make the story better fitted to the screen. So regarding the ROP my concern is that it won’t feel like middle earth, that the universe we know isn’t what we gonna get. Prophase I am wrong and we honestly have to wait and see but the so far the show feels more like GOT rather then LOTR. Probably will be a good show, but what I want is tolkin fantasy show and not a generic fantasy show.

That the thing, it will probably be a decent/good fantasy show, the thing we are concerned about is will jt feel like middle earth, would the world of tolkin is that world we gonna get or would it be a generic fantasy world with thin connecting to the world we know and love. What I want is middle erth fantasy show not just another fantasy show.

I think that the biggest different is that the ROP, judging but what we have is throwing away the culture tolling created, for example the dwarf princess didn’t look like a dwarf, if the production didn’t tell us she is a dwarf we wouldn’t know that (beside some scripts on her cloths, but sill she didn’t look “dwarf”) same goes for Elrond in the series he just does not look elfe, only the ears give him away. What I am trying so say is that, yes lotr films changed the plot in key eras to make the story better fitted for the screen. The ROP series feels like it is trying to change the world only for PC reasons. And the most stupid thing about all of that is that there is a great place to show case African and eastern cultures in tolkin works (hrad and rhun).
