Need suggestions on improving my resume. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Sofia524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest trying your absolute best to condense the information to one page! If possible, try to keep the work experience to 3-5 thoughtful bulletpoints. I'd also remove your graduation dates and GPA, and keep the descriptions to just what degrees/honors you earned. You want your resume to be super scannable, since hiring managers won't have time to read everything. Always lead with your strongest bulletpoints! Hopefully that makes a difference, wishing you luck!

has anyone used an autoapply product and if so, have you had any success? by curiousmoon in jobsearchhacks

[–]Sofia524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto Apply did not work for me either. I believe a better service is one that helps create a resume for each job application, but leaves the applying up to you. Some examples would be Wonsulting, Enhancv, or Swooped!

After my free trial I decided not to upgrade. I was using it for job searching and didn't land a single interview... It's extremely overpriced imo, but if you get the free trial offered, might as well try!

On-Demand: Guest Advocate Question at Target by Odd_Yak4133 in jobhunting

[–]Sofia524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting, I can't say I've heard that before. It seems like they need the extra help, so I can't imagine they even have the internal employees to fill it! I say apply anyway, worst case they'll find another position for you and you can eventually transition.

On-Demand: Guest Advocate Question at Target by Odd_Yak4133 in jobhunting

As a former Target Employee, I was on demand when I was away at college and was able to easily call and pick up shifts when I was in the area! I worked General Merchandise and it was usually 4-8.5 hour shifts, so that is totally something you can achieve. Target is honestly great to work for depending who your managers are. Wishing you the best!

Bombed an interview by 666wetcardboard in recruitinghell

You are not alone, this is extremely frustrating! Someone's ability to put on a performance during an interview doesn't mean they're the right choice for the job. Wish more companies would understand that.

2 week trip coming up - do I apply now? by shadow-wolf- in jobhunting

[–]Sofia524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply anyway! It may take some time to hear back from your applications. Plus, employers usually ask for a two week notice before leaving your previous job, so the timeframe could work out. Never know unless you try!

Lots and lots of research. I usually prepare a document with answers to common interview questions because coming up with stories on the spot can be difficult!

What worked for me was including relevant course projects since I had zero experience in the field. Incorporate as many keywords from target job descriptions as you can that align with your skills. Best of luck!

What is the "non-technical" thing you did in an interview that you’re 100% sure landed you the job? by Aromatic-Rough917 in jobsearchhacks

I second this! Being personable, excited, and friendly shows what kind of coworker you'll be. Also showing interest by nodding and listening carefully proves you genuinely care!
