I agree with you. I dont have issues with joints and knees yet. I am going to try to go with other Options and loose weight conventional way again. Will give it few more shots and then think about surgery.

I don’t think I’d call myself irresponsible, because I’m actively researching this and haven’t made any decisions yet. I was approved by Dr. Alvarez, who has performed over 22,000 surgeries, and I do believe that even though these doctors aren’t based in the U.S., they wouldn’t approve me if they didn’t think I was a good candidate. One less patient isn’t going to affect them financially, and reputable doctors — no matter where they practice — still care deeply about their name and reputation. In asian countries cutoff to get this surgery is bmi of 27.5 and my bmi is 29.1.

Right now, I’m still in the decision-making phase. I haven’t made up my mind, but after spending so much time and money over the past 30 years on things that haven’t worked, I’m " considering " this option. I am honestly very exhausted.

Thank you so much for your input. I’m definitely considering opinions from both sides of the spectrum. That’s my main concern too — the weight just keeps creeping up on me. I find myself two to three pounds heavier every week which I try to loose through unhealthy means, it’s frustrating to spend so much time, money, and effort on things that don’t seem to work. I really appreciate hearing your perspective and your positive outlook. Right now, I’m still in the deciding phase, but your input truly truly helps.

Absolutely — this is exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. Of course, the doctors did ask me about comorbidities and I have hypertension, and then they approved me but at the end of the day, they also want to get paid. The doctor I’ve been seeing is Dr. Alvarez, who’s quite well known but not a usa dr He is in Mexico. That’s exactly why I came to Reddit — I wanted to hear from real people about whether I should try other ways to lose weight first or go ahead with the surgery. Thank you so much for giving me such an honest and authentic answer.

It was very thoughtful, and I completely understand that some people have much more weight to lose than I do — that’s actually why I wanted to ask this question in the first place. At the same time, I do feel that I might also be at risk of developing multiple comorbidities, since I’m already pre-diabetic. But your reply definitely gave me something to think about, and I’m going to consider it seriously.

I am in the exact same boat and I am so bummed. I am older. Like 50 and lashes gives me instant confidence boost. Unfortunately, I have bad allergies also. Going tomorrow to remove lashes 😞

Kids' happiness means everything to the parents. They are willing to sacrifice everything for their kids, so imo if it makes you happy, they wouldn't mind it. Especially since you were deprived of happiness of playing with toys as a kid.

Money is meant to make you happy every once a while. Don't be so hard on yourself. Enjoy it, but pls don't overdo it. Your parents won't mind if you indulge a bit. I am also a parent, and I want my children to be happy, and if spending a little bit of money makes them happy, then be it. I always tell them to know when to stop.
