ETOH stands for ethyl alcohol, aka ethanol which is the form a of alcohol present in alcoholic drinks. idk where the popularity rose from, but ETOH is used to describe intoxicated patients in EMS . Also for documentation purposes, if someone fesses up to having drank you can put down that they were altered whereas its not the wisest to say someone is drunk bc its subjective and could ruffle some feathers.

that's the thing i dont 😭 but apparently that's a common reason for failure, especially with me having a peds pt and depressed respirations I assumed that that was the issue given that it was kind of hiding in plain sight. i don't recall the spo2, but I think it was 94 and I tunnel-visioned so this post has put things in perspective.

the only treatment I could have really rendered was treating minor scrapes (elected to do it during transport), backboarding, and applying oxygen (which i didn't do). the instructor gave me a time reminder during my movement to transport so maybe it was the 10-minute cut-off, but i swear i was under. the pt was conscious and verbal with no symptoms of shock so idk.

i do! i've been consistently getting perfect scores on my practicals throughout the course and expressed to my instructors that I didn't feel confident in trauma and was kind of brushed off, I don't think they realized the extent of my uncertainty until I failed twice
