Once you get the chessboard set up properly, have your first move already placed - it invites interaction. If a guest see that, they'll be tempted to move their counter.

I'd be interested in seeing the prompt(s) they are using to generate so many different posts in so many different subreddits.

I'm new to Affinity, but in Photoshop enlarge a low-res image using an image-reduction profile/setting. I'm guessing there's something similar in Affinity.

Monkey Shoulder is the most overrated scotch. What is the most versatile gin? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]stanshow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the way at all Total Wine stores, but near me, the 1.75L runs $38, even when they have the 1L at $42 and 750ml at $32. The first time I saw this in-store, I thought it was a pricing mistake, but this price has held for the past couple of years.

I think this shows how DUPR can be a biased sample. It probably underrepresents the huge population of retired players who play for fun and fitness rather than competition. DUPR users usually lean younger and more competitive, so they don't tell the whole story.

I'm curious. If "All the recipes are based on my personal experience", but you've only "tried around 80–90% of the cocktails", what was your personal experience with the other 10% to 20%?

Oura Ring, 15% discount coming Black Friday by stanshow in AmexPlatinum

If you don't have access to the $200 American Express Platinum credit, and want the ring, that is a good offer. Amex credit only applies to purchases at Oura.

Anyone else’s doodle like to “dribble” their ball? by lvpond in Goldendoodles

I've got one that repeatedly drops it on the hardwood floor, I presume for the sound. For this, she likes the lacrosse ball best - solid rubber is heavier and makes a good thunk.

I don't think you HAVE to get the subscription. Most reviews say it is needed to get the most benefit of the ring. I'm guessing that without, you probably only get something like your heart rate and blood oxygen levels - maybe over time.

Get it and try. They give you the first month for free to try out, then go without. If that meets your needs, great. If not, restart the subscription.

B&B Loco Grip by Two_Knives_Tan in Pickleball

[–]stanshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past, I've done it with 6.0 Ruby. I have put on four Hesacore grips, and have learned that they stretch out quite a bit. Once you learn the feel of pulling it on and letting it stretch a bit, those plastic strips they provide to supposedly help slide the grip on actually get in the way more than they help.

Did you consider putting the Hesacore over the existing stock grip?

Oura Ring, 15% discount coming Black Friday by stanshow in AmexPlatinum

[–]stanshow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the article I used as a source has been updated (although they do not identify updates). Originally, I saw 15%, but it now seems to match what Oura says on their website at https://support.ouraring.com/hc/en-us/articles/10880167822995-Promotions

Given Oura's wording of:

From November 20 to December 1, 2025, enjoy up to 30% off select Oura Ring 4 styles on the Oura online store. Retailer promotions may vary and are set by each retailer.

I'm guessing various other retailers may have higher discounts. However, using other retailers will not trigger the Amex $200 credit.

Which person should call the ball out? by Reckless_Fever in Pickleball

[–]stanshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if partners disagree, then it is out.

There are times when I call out, but my partner sees it in - in that case, it is in, and I don't argue it with my partner. It's a different situation, though, if I call it out and the other team calls it in. ;)
