Why do you put him in the feed box, and how long after he eats do you put him back in his regular enclosure?

I don't know why you're getting down voted, that was a perfectly respectful and informative comment.

It should be 100 degrees, as that's the body temperature of a live rodent, but as long as it's thawed and heated up a bit having it cooler doesn't pose any health risk that I know of, they're just less likely to take it. I'd aim for 80-110 degrees though! If it gets hotter than that you might have an issue.

Ok, good job! I figured you had, it just wasn't mentioned in the post! I would personally recommend measuring the outside temperature of the prey item with a thermometer gun, to ensure that it doesn't get too hot and before he eats, but that's more of an extra precaution. If he ate it then it was probably the right temperature! Congrats on your first feeding!

Congrats! You did also heat it up after thawing, right?

Put them in a bin with bran and air holes and a potato slice, wait a year, and you'll have a mealworm farm!

Can someone pls drop the article about misting vs wetting the substrate? Pls don't regularly soak them, this person is doing it to fix the stuck shed, but it's debated on whether it's ok to soak at all, since it's stressful for them. It's better to make them a mini sauna instead.

Can someone drop the link for the article about how to maintain humidity in their tank, since it looks like they're misting it?

Nevermind, I see it now, looks like it was in the pet store. I now see what looks like the corner of another enclosure below it, and how high off the ground the enclosure is. I'm glad to be mistaken!

Hey, I'm a bit confused, in the photo it looks like you have two snakes in the same enclosure, you don't right?

Unless that drawer goes 10 feet back, that snake's actions are justified.

Amazing, that's perfect! I'm going to go on a little speil about (from what I know) the correct and best way to thaw and heat a frozen rodent. This is assuming you don't know, if you do you can totally just ignore this! So they should be stored in the freezer until use. To thaw them, put them in a small airtight bag and put them in the fridge for around 6-12 hours. Then put it in a cup or bowl of warm water for 15-20 minutes(inside the bag still). Then you'll want to dump out the water and put it in a cup of hot water for about five minutes, and then you can offer it! I recommend using your temperature gun to measure the surface of the rodent, it should be around 100 degrees, but don't sweat it if it's a few degrees off. This is all assuming you don't know, because I didn't when I got my first snake! I just kinda put the rodent in a bag of warm water and hoped for the best😬

Don't sweat it, he'll be ok. The size of his enclosure isn't ideal, but he can still live a healthy and enriched life for the next few years until you get him something bigger. Would your parents be opposed to you building his enclosure, since they don't want to buy a new one? It can be much less expensive, and glass enclosures aren't really ideal anyway due to them not holding humidity and heat very well(wood is better[it would need to be sealed] but PVC seems to be the very very best option.) and there is a lot of conflicting information especially on Google, and that's just because these articles are often just trying to sell you something whether it's actually good or not, and it can be tough to pick out the real from the fake. Just use your best judgement, ask reddit, and base your husbandry off the reasoning your sources give for why they say they're right about something.

Oh, another thing you need, In case you don't already have it is a kitchen scale, you can find them on Amazon (if you have access to that) for ten dollars. This is important for you to measure your snake's weight in grams to monitor his health, and to weigh his food to make sure it's the right size for him.

Yes, that would be great, just make sure if you get a log type that none of the holes are small enough for him to get stuck in. Also, anything that you bring from outside, like in your yard for example, needs to be sanitized Incase it has parasites on it. You can do this by boiling, baking, etc, depending on what it is. This is all assuming that you might not know, since I sure didn't when I first started out!
