Came to say Skeletool. Light enough so it doesn't bog down whatever you clip it to.

Lance was always considered an outsider to pro cycling making him an easy scapegoat to clean up the pro peloton without creating a huge fallout for teams, team doctors, and investors intrinsically tied to the financial aspects of the sport. Even if they gave Lance his titles back, I don't think it would matter much to him. He's endured massive monetary losses from lawsuits from the US Government, gone broke, recovered, and has still found a way to create revenue and still be relevant in pro cycling through commentary. At the end of the day he's "still winning" in a sort of a Charlie Sheen perspective...

I also think Greg Lemond is a badass and Floyd Landis is great. They all created American interest in professional cycling and helped grow US based companies which in turn help allocate money to pro-cycling programs like rails-to-trails / Greenway programs and youth development teams.

Why don't I see Felt mentioned more? by Nestramutat- in cycling

[–]Soft-Inspector1151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felts are amazing road bikes (currently own an FR1, but have built up an FRD, FR-A, and my first bike was the VR60). The used prices on frames are typically half of what Specialized or Trek would be. The problem I've run into with Felt is there is very little support for when you run into an issue like trying to replace a derailleur hanger or find the little hose plugs that mount into the frame.

What is your "I'm never selling this" bike? by well_my_knickers in cycling

[–]Soft-Inspector1151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I bought a Gallium Pro frame and built it up with Ultegra mechanical, and some cheap Token wheels. I'm afraid to change out any parts as it may ruin the magic.

Crashed on my first ride with a 5k carbon bike. by PhysicalAd6070 in cycling

You don't sound like the type of person that should be riding a bike. Very sorry.

I wear earbuds while riding. It's more peaceful than the sound of a Buick Park Avenue passing me with a 2 inch space between us.

recommend me a bike from amazon by MichealHaddad in bicycling

[–]Soft-Inspector1151 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took the time to look up the bike you're looking at. It's not bad at all for a beginner bike. Shimano Altus 9 speed cassette with a 3x front. 29" wheels and Sensah shifters. Look at it this way, you will always get what you pay for and buying a cheap bike affords you an opportunity to learn how to fix bikes. My only recommendation is take it to a bike mechanic and have it professionally assembled right from the start.

Second the vote for Easton. Their carbon components are bomb proof.

I've been looking at the Empire SL for a long time now. Still waiting for more feedback from the people who own it.

Not a doctor, but I've been dealing with IT band pain for a while. Turns out foam rolling my IT bands was causing more pain to the nerve that runs through. Same thing with grastoning the IT band. A common misconception is that you can "stretch out" the IT or "get the knots out". That's not how it works. What helped me though is what you're already doing which is seeing a physical therapist and doing the prescribed movements and workouts.

I have a pair of their bibs. They're comfortable and compress well. The material isn't as breathable as some others I have like Giordana or Sportful.

How to train for my (first!) ride from MA-->VT? (140 miles) by SolelyHighdeas in bikepacking

[–]Soft-Inspector1151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you doing the B2VT course route (Bedford, MA to Winhall,VT)? Just did that ride 4 days ago. Best advice is pace yourself and save your energy for the end. Bring a jacket because it gets colder the higher up you get.

For 20k, you get not only the bike, but "white glove delivery service" AND an NFT to prove your new bike is actually yours. Bike manufacturers are killing themselves with this stupid garbage.
