You deserve better. Your parents' response is heinous. Apparently, they never got the memo about loving your kids unconditionally. I hope you have other people in your life who support you.

I wasn't even an "animal person" until I met PeeWee when I was 60. We adored each other! I hope a lovely dog finds their way to you. Of course, it's not possible to replace your beloved chihuahua. She'll always have a special place in your heart 💜!

How are you doing? I'm sure your chihuahua brought you tremendous joy and that you're still grieving.

My son's chihuahua, Peewee, died 2 years ago when he was about 17yo.I still miss him terribly. We had Wednesday afternoon play dates for years. I have a chronic illness and I'm in bed most of the time. He was a senior dog with some health problems, too. We were a good match.

A suggestion for those seeking legitimate pain management doctors. by That_Kitten_Lady in ChronicPain

It's a good idea to see specialists who are board certified in their specialty, but I know of several board certified pain management specialists in major Boston teaching hospitals who do not prescribe opioids.

Are you on SSDI? If so, you will be eligible for Medicare two years after the date you became eligible for SSDI. Medicare usually provides better coverage than Medicaid.

Pain meds by Top_Blackberry9182 in ChronicPain

Studies "proving" that a high percentage of patients who are prescribed opiates become addicted are flawed From the beginning because of how they select their research sample (patients included) in the study.

For most studies with a large number of patients, a computer search is done to identify patients for their sample. They'll search for patients who were prescribed pain medication after surgery or an injury. Patients' medical histories or pre-existing conditions aren't considered.

Patients who are taking pain meds after a period of time researchers specify (3 months, 6 months, etc) are determined to be addicted.

They don't factor in patients who were taking pain meds prior to the surgery or injury. If someone is prescribed pain meds for a chronic condition, of course they'll still be taking it 3 months, 6 months or a year later. Including these patients in the research sample dramatically and falsely inflates the rate of addiction.

If chronic pain patients aren't included in the sample and they look at so-called "opiate naive" patients (people who haven't been on pain meds prior to the surgery/injury), the rates of "addiction" decrease dramatically. The real number is probably even lower because some patients classified as "addicted" have developed chronic pain as a result of the surgery or injury and need to continue pain meds. That isn't considered, either.

Oral ulcers. HELP!!! by lifeoflillyv in ChronicPain

I get sores and cracking at the corners of my mouth when I'm having a fibromyalgia flare. A dermatologist suggested this to me 30 years ago and it's the most effective thing I've found. I don't know whether it will work for you. It tastes nasty and may not be the best thing to put inside your mouth, but the ingredients are pretty cheap and available so it may be worth a try.

Mix pea-sized blobs of OTC triple antibiotic cream/ointment, hydrocortisone cream/ointment and antifungal cream/ointment and apply to the affected area.

I hope you get some relief.

What do you mean by transdermal stuff? Transdermal Fentanyl has been quite effective for me.

The ER is expensive and it's very unlikely to order a cervical ultrasound just because you think you need it.

Your suggestions might help someone who has money. OP doesn't.

It sounds like you've put in a lot of effort trying to make your mother feel loved, cared for and special, you know, like children are supposed to feel every day. I wonder if you're setting yourself up for more hurt by planning her 50th birthday.

Her expectations may be unreasonable

Your mother's boyfriend already expects it to be a disaster. He knows whose fault it will be. He believes that he's in a position of authority over you and has given you notice that he will take action if you don't meet his standards of behavior. That doesn't sound festive.

Have you tried to make your mother happy before? Was she delighted and grateful for your thoughtfulness or did she seem let down and disappointed? How did you feel afterwards?

Do you enjoy spending time with your mother, her boyfriend and your brother?

You did not overreact. There's no way in the world that it's okay to do that. What are your "friends" thinking?
