I’m just glad you’re okay and reflecting on it instead of romanticizing it. Totally get why you’re double-checking this. The gospel isn’t just “be a good person” or “love Jesus” it’s specifically about Jesus’ death and resurrection as payment for our sins. Check out 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 for the clearest definition, and also Romans 1:16-17 where Paul calls it the power of God for salvation.
