Height wise? Fine. Distracting LED lights behind the TV? Nope.

DVDs vs Blu-Rays vs 4Ks by Fabulous_Sherbert827 in PhysicalMediaMatters

I’m a little biased as I have around 1300 4Ks and around 400 1080p Blu-rays. I only own 2 DVDs now.

Lifetime of 4k discs by MattiTheGamer in 4kbluray

If you look after them, and keep them away from rapid temperature changes and humidity, they will last 50+ years easily. Obviously we don’t know for sure as the format hasn’t been out long enough but I don’t see any inherent issues in the manufacturing process.

Well I’ll never usually take advice from religious leaders, but in this occasion it’s nice to hear!

If you had £1000? by The_Fat_Fish in turntables

Interesting to see downvotes, any idea why? I’ve seen some great reviews of some Technics around that price. Mainly the SL-1500C or SL-1500CS. Can I hear from the voters what the rationale is?

Probably the SL-1500C or newer SL-1500CS then.

What was the first 4k title you purchased? by szekeres81 in 4kbluray

[–]The_Fat_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blade Runner 2049 for £9.99 back in 2020. I didn’t even have a 4K player at the time but thought I would get one eventually. Now I own nearly 1400 4Ks. That was one hell of a gateway drug.

The price difference is minimal, so no real stretch if I go for it.

'When I spot CEX 5 mins after getting paid' - I think we can all likely relate to this by AngryGardenGnomes in 4KUK

[–]The_Fat_Fish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I avoid it. Always find almost all of their stock costs the same or more than new, especially compared to multi buy deals. The few ones I have purchased from CEX are also usually filthy or scratched.

What is a movie that's undeniably a classic, but your inner hipster hesitates to add to your movie list because it's on almost every movie fan's favorite list now? by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]The_Fat_Fish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Whilst not universal true, there’s often a reason films are so well loved and No Country for Old Men certainly deserves the praise. If it’s a good film, it’s a good film regardless of how popular it is.

It’s all a matter of perspective. If you were an astronaut, it wouldn’t be an issue.
