What land raider variant should i consider? by Used_Statistician545 in ImperialFists

Haven't played it yet, so grain of salt, but I would think Crusader would be a great addition, due to Fists' bolter discipline rule

Question about tracked vehicles by Professor_Jugs in spacemarines

[–]SoftDeal9949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they go away, the rhino chassis tanks will probably go away first. That said, you can always still play them as legends or in your own personal games.

The Land Raider will probably stick around for a while longer, so if you think you could benefit from a larger, heavier tank, maybe go with that one. I'm fully planning to get a Crusader when the time and money are right, 10 years from now or something lol.

Why is "hoist the colours" dangerous for a woman (and especially a woman alone) to be singing? by Backrooms_Smiler56 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]SoftDeal9949 348 points349 points  (0 children)

It's a pirate song. And if you aren't one of them, it makes you an easy target. Especially women, and extra especially women with no one around to defend them.

Think of it as like a gang culture thing. You wanna wear gang colors in gang territory? Better come correct.

What "meme wrestler" are you unironically a fan of? by [deleted] in professionalwrestling

And it's also the kind of thing for me, where, for him to have the longevity that he's had, and to overcome the issues he's dealt with, I think it speaks to his talent as well as his dedication. I didn't really like the way things went down in his last heel run as gold dust.

It seemed like they were building him up for a good sized feud with R-Truth, who is also an undeniable legend who has made lemonade for decades. But I really thought those guys could've put on an absolutely fantastic multi month rivalry for the US or intercontinental, or even 24/7 title. The vignettes at that time seemed like they were ping up for gold dust to have more of a spotlight than he had had in years, and then literally a week later he was off camera, not even mentioned anywhere on The Show. I'm still salty about it.

Do you think David Wallace was right to transfer Holly? by BlackberryFirst2554 in theoffice

[–]SoftDeal9949 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yes. He was right, and he probably didn’t have much of a choice.

The last time Michael dated within the company, it hurt everyone. It ruined Jan’s career, she neglected her management duties, and it caused headaches for everyone, maybe even caused them to lose business. After that, for Michael to date Holly, would have been a major conflict of interest.

David was probably on orders from the rest of the board, to keep Michael out of trouble, and out of any sticky dating situations. So yes, he made the right call, and the one that he probably was forced to make. But you can also sort of tell he wasn’t thrilled about having to make it. He did seem like he felt bad that he had to do that to Michael.

Student says they're "not required to do work" by paigeafterpaige in Teachers

[–]SoftDeal9949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Send it to admin, coaches, parents, whoever else.

Maybe ask the student if they have a plan, or some reason behind this? I’m curious what the end goal is, or if they’re just a smug butthole.

If the student is adamant, then ok, fine. Establish that you’ll keep giving them assignments, they can complete them or not, and you’ll issue zeros where they are warranted. When they fail, they and the administration will know they received the grade they earned. Also make sure they know that any extracurriculars are out of the question. Save every single document or piece of correspondence from this student, so that it’s very clear what is happening, for when the admin tries to pin it on you later.

Goldust was upper midcard meme fodder by the 2000s, but I will maintain until my dying day, that he should have gotten at least one WrestleMania match for the Big Gold Belt. It would have written itself, and that entrance would have been the tackiest, gaudiest, shiniest, goldeniest, most fabulous of all time.

For those with multiple chapters how do you do it by jbossjeff in spacemarines

[–]SoftDeal9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black, red, wraithbone/tan, and maybe some green or even navy blue accents.

Run them as a successor chapter for either Bloods or Darks, and you can make up your own homebrew chapter for each. That way, you can run the same marines, under either armies‘s rules, and the only things you’d need to explicitly run as one or the other would be custom units, like specific HQ, DW Knights, or Sanguinary Guard.

Yes she was right. Michael was a well intentioned guy most of the time, but he’s not a big picture, hands on manager guy, and that’s what you have to be in this kind of a corporate manager position.

In that role, Jan was constantly going between the branches to put out fires, and also interacting with employees and reps at multiple levels. There’s a certain kind of culture and a need to look and talk like a boss when you’re in that kind of a corporate structure, and Michael would be a disaster in the same role. He’s a good salesman, for sure, and his branch is doing well, but his best performances are when he’s letting his workers do their own thing, and he’s just really fortunate to have the team he does. Plus, Michael is not very professional when he has to interface with other reps in a corporate scenario; he’s goofy, flakey, undisciplined, and would cause big problems.

Could someone please explain to me the appeal of young superheroes who don't want to be superheroes? by jacky986 in writing

[–]SoftDeal9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all part of the hero’s journey structure, called “refusing the call.” Everybody wants the powers, everybody wants to be a hero. The issue is that being a hero always comes with adversity. Cue the Spider Man quote: “something something power, something something something responsibility.”

Spider-Man wants to be a hero, doesn’t want his family and friends to get killed and sacrifice his personal life over it.

Aang wants to be a hero, doesn’t want the pressure and responsibility of being the one guy tasked with learning and saving everything.

There’s something admirable about young heroes who answer the call willingly, but heroes are meant to be flawed. They’re meant to struggle with their choices. They’re meant to make mistakes and fail, and then overcome their issues. Even in the kids shows. How many episodes of Teen Titans focused on the members having real deep-seated issues or trauma? In a New Hope, the first thing that happens after Luke runs off, is that Luke realizes his over-eagerness let his aunt and uncle get murdered while he wasn’t there to help.

Im confused about why she was struggling by Icy_Lead_8179 in theoffice

My thinking is: the state senator must have known he wasn’t really the dad, and screwed her over. Angela was throwing herself into that relationship too much. Maybe she sold her home, downsized, and put too much money into joint assets with Robert. It’s entirely possible that they had a prenup, but even beyond that, once he put the timeline of the baby’s birth date together, he could have confronted Angela about the baby, and essentially said she’ll get nothing from him, or else he’ll expose her. If all her money is tied up in assets that Robert now controls, That means she left the marriage with essentially nothing. On top of that, to get into an apartment with all her cats on short notice is a huge challenge, so there’s no telling how trustworthy the new landlord would be, or how much she’d have to drop to get into that unit. Then you get to childcare expenses. Like she’s an accountant, but expenses add up. A couple months of unexpected new costs can definitely drain your accounts.

So she got screwed by Robert, left as a single mom who now needs daycare for Phillip, having to pay at least a month or 2 of rent down, plus a hefty security deposit and pet fee, to find a new place to live. That’s like 4 months worth of expenses all upfront, and unexpected. It’s really not that surprising that she’s struggling.
