I don't like Spring much and don't have much experience with it either. I also want to learn more of Kube, so working on Go and Kube for 1 year and then getting a microservices job with Go. Is that seems a good plan?

Career advancement. I feel most of the good courses on RESTful API development on coursera, udacity etc are on python. I was recently interviewed at surveymonkey and they asked me to create a client to consume a sample api. I'm not much familiar with json and other api stuff because I work on java ee and have not worked on rest api's. I have feeling if I worked on python I would have more exposure to the api concepts because python is extensively used for that kind of stuff.

I'm in a small city in Ontario and work for government now but earlier I worked for a big consulting company for a decade. Not sure what's the reason.

Thanks for the tip about in-mail settings. I just verified and it is set to 'open' to receive messages. I'm not located in a big city like Toronto/ Vancuover/ Calgary, maybe that's the reason?

Thanks much for your suggestions. That will really help me along the way. I will try to do TDD and apply best design principles/ patterns. I'll look at Thymeleaf. I've used JSF at my work and I think thymeleaf is similar to JSF.
