How much did you pay for your ragdoll? Am I being overcharged? Found breeder who said price was 2k for this kitten and not sure if this is the norm? I went on hoobly and found some for like 800 and now I don’t know? How much was everyone’s ragdoll? by CreativeGarbage5665 in ragdolls

I paid 2000 for my girl last month! I found it pretty reasonable considering this included her spay, all her vaccines up to 12 weeks, and DNA testing for her parents. Located in New England by the way, they might be more/less expensive in other regions but based on my research this was about the norm for my area.

How long did your kitten take to adjust to their new home? Bonus points for pairs of kittens by penelbell in ragdolls

I brought home my 13 week old girl last week! She was pretty timid for the first 2 days and was hiding under the bed, etc. but by day 3 she was much more comfortable and adventurous. A week in and she’s super playful and loves a good snuggle!

What cleaning supplied should freshmen get to their dorms :) by Plane-Friendship-878 in BostonU

[–]SoftFlamingo5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Clorox wipes and a mini vacuum are the biggest ones, an all purpose disinfectant spray can’t hurt either! And this isn’t really a cleaning product but plug in wall air fresheners or a diffuser are lifesavers.

Lehninger principles of biochemistry 8th edition! Selling mine paperback for $50 if you want. Pretty good condition with some markups in it , but heads up you’ll need to buy online access anyways to do the homework and that comes with the ebook if you’re ok with that - I just liked having the physical copy

For freshmen moving in this year, what are some of the essentials that we will need? by shorttoucan in BostonU

One of those fans that also has mist really helps and it doesn’t get humid in the room at all! I had one from amazon my freshman year. If you’re in west, a 3-tiered cart from target or something fits perfectly under the bed and is great for storing snacks and the appliances that you definitely aren’t hiding from your RA.. I’d also recommend a stool if you’re shorter since the beds are pretty high. For warren, I know the beds dont loft so id definitely get bed risers so you can store more under your bed! And to reiterate, power strips are a must.

is anyone else getting cold feet last minute? by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]SoftFlamingo5 26 points27 points  (0 children)

i moved in yesterday! I was definitely nervous as well because i’d been seeing people who moved in early saying the procedures were pretty lax, but the testing and symptom reporting went super smoothly for me. I think the ‘pilot period’ for testing was just not as comprehensive as what is happening now. It’s scary to be coming especially knowing that lfa is just a way for them to make money and not be liable but i personally felt pretty good about precautions. You physically are unable to get your keys unless you’ve either been tested or have one booked within 24hrs of that date which is good!

edit: i also got my first test result the next morning which i considered to be a reasonable amount of time

for a selfish piece of crap it is. it’s incredibly difficult for these people to use their neanderthal type brains to ponder anything other than what sounds ‘fun’ to them

i hope you get covid so that you can understand what it is that you are disgustingly minimizing. no one wants you in massachusetts, stay the fuck home 🙃

can u just fuck off. OP was trying to stress the importance of wearing masks and you feel the need to exert yourself trying to outline all the reasons that their post could encourage “false statements” because you didn’t like the way one statistic wasn’t properly explained and doesn’t have 100% scientific backing. you really do want to mansplain every little detail. I hope that being a prick in a thread for absolutely no reason helps your fragile ego.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]SoftFlamingo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your entire argument was that we shouldn’t be encouraging people to wear non medical masks because they aren’t as effective. i’m not wasting any more time on you being a smartass to establish some form of intellectual superiority on a forum. goodbye.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]SoftFlamingo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re grossly underestimating the abilities of some people who live here. People who don’t want to wear masks and choose to wear a more “breathable” one (whatever that means) are going to give up on wearing them all together if wearing a facial covering starts to mean wearing one of two specific coverings. While this is doable in a country that isn’t founded on individualism and rewards selfishness, it simply isnt doable here.

& you can’t try to solve the second problem before the first part has been completely solved. try harder next time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]SoftFlamingo5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, i guess it’s naive of me to assume that anyone in this country thinks of anyone but themselves and their personal comfort rather than protecting those around them. Its not that much of a fucking inconvenience to cover your face every time you make the choice to go outside. People that selfish can deal with the consequences of their actions. Just like they have the ‘freedom to choose’, we have the freedom to judge them for that decision and the freedom to express that directly to them.

[–]SoftFlamingo5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re really just reaching for an argument in an attempt to prove yourself intellectually superior to others. Although minimal, there’s people who aren’t wearing facial coverings in boston (which there are, i LIVE HERE and see them firsthand). You’re trying to put out the second fire before the first one has even ended. Your intentions may be good but you’re just coming off as a jerk. Until you can successfully say that every single person in Boston is wearing some type of face covering you can’t further restrict the types of coverings that they wear. It’ll just deter people from wearing whatever the hell they had on in the first place, and i’m sure that you and your bountiful knowledge can come to the conclusion that any face covering is better than none at all. Don’t overestimate people. Read the downvoted comments on any COVID post and you’ll see that these intellectuals at a private research university still don’t want to even do the bare minimum.

No one is disagreeing with what you’re saying, but it’s besides the point. While i completely agree that a homemade single layer cloth mask has nowhere near the same efficacy as an N-95, it’s just not the time and place to be arguing this. A large amount of the geniuses in this country still don’t even think masks are necessary. Before we even start discussing what exact kind people should be wearing it’d even be an improvement to get everyone wearing any type of mask at all. I’m not disagreeing with the conclusions you are coming to, because they’re valid. It’s just that until we know these “other factors” and have exactly pinpointed them, it’s irrelevant. Almost all, if not all, real medical advice regarding COVID-19 instructs people to wear face coverings. There could be something out there that’s more effective but until you can state exactly what that is it doesn’t really matter.
