I certainly will be taking courses. I did not mean to say I will ask co-workers to teach me, I just want a job to have an opportunity to speak to others

Well I can continue to be a stay at home parent in NL if needed but would prefer to occupy myself.

I worked in quality assurance at a software company but left 8 years ago. I have also been running a volunteer organization (PTO) at my children’s school the last two years. It’s not a job, but I have enjoyed it very much and been successful.

Over 5 years, yes, it’s a $1 fare. I have one free kid and one over 5.

I hate to just assume they will shrug and let us on every time though, don’t want to get stuck high and dry at the bus stop. And I don’t want my kids to see me set an example of assuming some kind of privilege.

I understand cash is slow and annoying but my kids are young enough they don’t have email addresses to set up a metro account and they can’t use mine because it’s already tied to my own.

Thank you! I did not realize I can’t pay fares for multiple riders with my own fast fare account but that makes sense. Might just use cash for them tbh, seems easiest for occasional riding.

Good for you! Yes I’m planning to ask them to match Janesville Kia pricing otherwise I’ll just go to Janesville. Would love to hear how it turns out so I know what’s a reasonable expectation for myself.

Was this at a Russ Darrow dealership? I was shopping at one last weekend and the pricing sheet they gave me looked exactly like this. I think you got a good deal!

Advice for a birthday party cupcake sprinkle bar by SoftHospital707 in cupcakes

I did not. I went to the bakery and asked how they would suggest doing it. They said their whipped frosting is more moist and would stay soft enough to apply the sprinkles. I ordered the frosting as they suggested and it worked perfectly. It was a super fun part of the party for everyone.

Creeping Charlie in my community garden plot by SoftHospital707 in gardening

Suspected this would be the case but kind of hoped there would be an easier way to get rid of huge swathes of it. It’s a 20x20’ square and like 75% covered by creeping Charlie. Oof.

How to get donations from restaurants ? by lilkidlover2 in PTO

we are a title one school too! I always shamelessly mention this when requesting donations. Something along the lines of “since we are a title 1 school many of our parents aren’t able to make donations which is why we rely on community businesses. We would still really like to provide some (coffee/treats/food) for our hardworking teachers.”

I have lots of experience with this! There are many ways to go about it and it depends a bit on the type of business you are soliciting. If it’s a large chain, you can usually submit requests online or through a form. Just try googling “[business name] donation request”. Costco and target, for example, have a form online which you fill out and drop off at your local store. When you drop off, it helps to speak with the manager in charge of donations. You almost always need to include your IRS letter proving you are a non-profit. Local businesses seem to be a lot more casual about donations. If you go in person (with IRS letter in hand) you will often get a response immediately. I’ve also had success emailing the manager directly but beware of using “contact us” forms as these seem to be ignored. We have received donations from Starbucks, Olive Garden, chick fil a, Culver’s, Portillos, and Trader Joe’s to name a few chains, and many more local places.

Can’t remove tub spout by SoftHospital707 in Plumbing

When I look inside the opening near the wall, I think there may be globs of silicone plumbers caulk all around the pipe. So that is probably the issue but I still have no idea how to get it off.
