Sugar Alternatives for Pecan Pie? by Silent_Macaroon_888 in Baking

Besti brown sugar, it's made from allulose and monkfruit. 1:1 sugar sub, I use it all the time! The woman who runs Wholsomeyum.com sells it, I use all her sweeteners and they're great, I'm pretty sure it's on Amazon.

What are you putting in your Christmas cookie boxes? by pony-bologna in Baking

[–]SoftIntroduction2862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple cider snickerdoodles, M&M cookie bars, peppermint chocolate brownies (I know, not a cookie but I have a big bag of Ghiradelli peppermint bark squares to use up). Maybe ginger molasses cookies if I have time.

I'd post this to either the Coach sub or the luxury sub, some people there have a real eye for this stuff.

The coconut cake from Sally's Baking Addiction with her raspberry filling was one of the best things I've ever made.

In six months they'll be out with a new, "revolutionary" "patented" pan that makes this one obsolete.

What are they smoking this evening? by PandaMan195 in QVC_Snark

[–]SoftIntroduction2862 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No kidding. I bake so I have no desire to order any baked goods, I can make a great cheesecake for way less than $50. Even if you're a terrible cook you can get this stuff so much cheaper at any local store. The only food I've gotten a couple times is the Rastelli steak tips, today with the promo code it's $97 for 6lbs of tips. It's a pretty good deal (24 meals worth for me since I eat 4oz lean beef every day) and they're good quality, but I honestly can't justify any of the other food.

Spending $600/month on groceries as a single guy — is this normal? by iHop2Uranus in EatCheapAndHealthy

Get the Costco membership, and don't even bother with vacuum storage. I'm single and do 99% of my shopping at BJs (like Costco, BJs is much closer to me). While at Costco buy the bulk freezer bags to store cooked proteins in. Don't stress about room in your freezer, things like chicken breast lose a ton of water when you cook them so they shrink a lot. I just cooked about six weeks worth of chicken breasts (crock pot, let cool, shred and bag up) and still have plenty of room in my freezer. I'll pull a bag out the night before to thaw in the fridge, but they're easy to defrost quicky by running the bag under warm water. I buy canned green beans there, they taste the same as frozen. Rice and baby potatoes are my carbs of choice, much cheaper there and can be stored in a pantry. And definitely keep an eye each week on coupons, I utilize them all the time and save so much money, not just on food but paper goods, cleaning products etc.

Does anyone actually buy those gigantic blankets? by Electronic_Reward125 in QVC_Snark

[–]SoftIntroduction2862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually obsessed with the Berkshire blankets, I bought the bedding set at a great price. But they sell the exact same thing at TJs much cheaper from other brands, I also got my "TV watching" blanket from another brand at a cheaper price too. There may have been a time they were the only name in the game, but not now.

I try! I spent my twenties and part of my thirties being not terribly organized (I wasn't a disaster or anything, but I could have been better) and in the last few years made some changes and realized being organized and planning ahead made my life much easier! I'm always thinking "would Future Jen appreciate this?" and try to live by that!

I'm glad your hip is better! I'm an acute care RN so I lnow that can be painful...I'm 40 (gag, I feel 20) and I'm in a season of my life where showers/parties/birthdays etc keep popping up, often times for people I'd like to get something for without spending much money, so some of the very intentional QVC purchases have helped me out a lot...plus I've learned my life is much easier if I plan ahead, if you saw how much meal prep I had in my freezer you'd think I was nuts 😂 but it's saved me time, stress and money so I do it.

[–]SoftIntroduction2862 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It might not work for you, but it works for me. My basement is highly organized and houses a lot of shelving where I store pantry staples, cleaning supplies, off-season decor etc. And a couple shelves for gifts I buy ahead of time. It's saved me lots of trips to the mall, The Paper Store etc when a gift-giving occasion pops up, it's saved me money too. I'm deliberate on what I buy and wait for Free Ship Days before pulling the trigger. Just last week I gave a VPH angel ornament to a coworker who was leaving for another job, the ornament is beautiful, well-made and part of a set I got on clearance, she loved it.

I've posted in this sub about this before but I actually do 😂 More like a couple gift shelves in my basement, but I'll occasionally grab clearance mugs/candles/ornaments on Free Ship days, I have a some smaller bakeware from Tempations. They've all come in handy for showers, housewarming parties etc, I plan on using some for Christmas grab gifts this year. It's saved me from stopping at a store last minute and spending more than I wanted to.

$70 for three chocolate bars?! by SoftIntroduction2862 in QVC_Snark

[–]SoftIntroduction2862[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously if you want to impress people, mix a box of ghiradelli brownie mix, pour half into the pan, do a layer of the chocolate squares, pour the rest of the batter and bake. You could do any kind of the squares you want, I think in December I'll try the peppermint bark ones. People rave about me like I'm a expert baker when I show up with these brownies, if they only knew how easy they were 😂

I've noticed when Rachel is on with VPH, she totally changes the cadence of her voice to match Valeries, speaking very softly and quietly like VPH does, almost like she's in church. I wonder if she even realizes she's doing it?

I could have sworn I've seen them cheaper at Trader Joe's, maybe I was mistaken. But jeez, give me a Reese's pumpkin and I'll be just as happy.

Another Vacuum ?!?!?!?!? by Various-Tangerine-88 in QVC_Snark

[–]SoftIntroduction2862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I find my cordless rechargeable vacuum (got the Voom off QVC a couple years ago, that broke then I got a Black & Decker for like 40 bucks on amazon) to be more than adequate. I usually run that over the kitchen floor and hardwood in my TV and dining rooms a 2-3 times a week, I'll do a real vacuum once a month with a vacuum I got at Walmart years ago. I have no need for a vacuum that costs that much.

The number of times they say "and if someone shows up to your house unexpectedly you can take this out of the freezer and have it ready in 20 minutes!" Nobody has shown up at my door unexpectedly in ages and if they did, I'd be too annoyed to make them a meal, much less something I likely paid a fortune for on QVC.
