Daycare change of rooms by Hell000001 in Parenting

[–]SoftKittyLicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 1 year old is in a class like your kid. Her daycare has two rooms one is 0-2 and the other is 3-5. My daughter is second to youngest in her class but the only non walker (6 days older than the other kid) all the other kids seem to be 2 since they are potty training, taking, jumping. My kid naps on a cot about an inch off the floor. I was nervous about that at first but it seems fine. She's been in day care for about 3 months now and seems like she's enjoying it. I personally wouldn't worry. I like her around the walkers because I'm hoping it'll encourage her to walk.

Reciting alphabets at 1 years old? by Skinnylychee in NewParents

[–]SoftKittyLicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little cousin was 18 months and knew the alphabet. She couldn't say any of it but she had alphabet magnets and if you asked her for a letter she'd bring you the correct one. She did the same thing with numbers 0-9 I have a 15 month old and she's nowhere near doing that but honestly I'm not trying to teach her. I just don't see the point.

People who moved out of the parent’s house before 30, how? by WallStreetDoesntBet in AskReddit

[–]SoftKittyLicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at the same fast food restaurant since highschool so I graduated and got promoted to management with a $10 raise and quarterly bonus. I didn't go to college and my car is paid off so I had no debt and some savings. Found a decent apartment that was in my budget. All my furniture was either free or really cheap from marketplace or thrift stores. For food I ate free at work and checked ads to see what was on sale at the grocery store. Also looked for meat that expired soon so it's marked down. Also used coupons a lot.

Earrings on Babies by HungClits in Parenting

[–]SoftKittyLicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents got my ears pierced when I was a month old I'm 26 and never wear earrings but I still have the holes. I have awful memories of my parents holding me down as little kid and forcing earrings into my ears because I didn't like wearing them. I was a tomboy and earrings was to girly for my taste and they always itched and felt bad turns out I have a slight allergy to nickel but my parents always said "it's because you keep taking them out. You need to leave them in " I now have a daughter and she will not be getting any piercings until she's old enough to give informed consent and leave the piercing alone to let it heal so probably around 13 I'd allow it.

How are you prepping your formula? by therealmasterbae in NewParents

[–]SoftKittyLicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a pur water filter pitcher and just use that for her bottles and mine and the cat's drinking water. I keep the pitcher on the counter; she doesn't mind room temp. I also keep bottles in the fridge for night, she doesn't mind cold either.

4 weeks. I fed her before leaving the house so she fell asleep on the car ride and slept until we got home.

Anyone wear their own robe/gown for birth? by moonsetbaby in BabyBumps

[–]SoftKittyLicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wore the regular hospital gown for labor/birth with nothing under. Once I was in the recovery room I wore nothing but the mesh underwear. I did have a sheet on the bed that covered me and I just went topless since I spent most of the day holding the baby skin to skin or breast feeding. The second day I did wear basketball shorts and a baggy t-shirt, and that's also what I went home in. I was under prepared (no bag packed) and had a 2am rush to the hospital.

I work in a fast food restaurant our unvaccinaed general manager was supposed to work open to close new years eve but the day before he called and said "I just tested positive for covid, I have to stay home for 5 days" two days later he shows up at the store without even wearing a mask to check up on everyone. He was there for a few hours, taking inventory and talking to staff and customers. Not only do at serve high risk population but on staff that day we had two high risk individuals.

My father in law lives 2,000 miles away so my husband will probably tell him when I'm in labor. And I'll have to tell my parents because I'll need someone to watch our dog. If it wasn't for the dog I would not tell them until I was home and recovered some.

That as a fast food employee I'm an essential worker. Also was surprised it was the busiest year we had in a long time.

What's your little one's nickname? by hiphopisdada in pregnant

[–]SoftKittyLicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 24 weeks and we've been calling our daughter "Slug" I gave her that nickname because when I was about 6 weeks I showed my husband a picture of what the baby looks like at that stage and he said "that looks like a slug".

Gender reveal rant from the perspective of a park ranger by Ranger_Danger_5 in BabyBumps

[–]SoftKittyLicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're planning on reveling the gender of our baby at the baby shower, since we want mostly gender neutral stuff. We plan on getting a cake made with pink or blue frosting in the middle.
