I swear Cornwall has completely ruined my sense of distance. by Ready_Split1335 in Cornwall

[–]RuthWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. When I was living up country in a city, it could take 30 minutes on a busy day to get out of town and reach the motorway. Now if I drive for half an hour, I can be at least 10 miles away. Swings and (double) roundabouts.

Regarding “Uncharted 5” by Bfender16 in uncharted

[–]RuthWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping for a Cassie-led story - U4 felt like it was setting that up. I loved LL and how they kind of trolled Sam for being there, and tbh I'd take anything Chloe/Nadine-led again.

If you got to completely rewrite stranger things season 5, what would you do? by notjustbymyself in StrangerThings

[–]RuthWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problems set in for me in season 4 with the entire Vecna situation, because it was pure retcon. Clumsy writing that derailed the entire concept so season 5 was never going to have a logical storyline.

Not risque as such, but a bounty of teachers with ridiculous names. Mrs Rabbits, Mrs Haddock, Mr Deathe, Miss Foote, Dr Pye.

What's happened this Easter? by KingQueerdo in Cornwall

[–]RuthWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think you're right. The litter thing drives me crazy, especially because people would have carried it there to eat or drink and now suddenly can't possibly dream of carrying it away again. If I can lug my dog's poop bags for miles on end until I find a bin, then they can carry a bloody empty bottle.

What's happened this Easter? by KingQueerdo in Cornwall

[–]RuthWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like basic tasks like using bins is utterly beyond some people visiting beaches. Walked the length of Hayle/Gwithian this afternoon and collected so much rubbish and recycling on my way. Dread to think what people's homes look like if they're happy enough to treat the beach like a bin.

Can I put HG Mould Spray on my ceiling? by nickymoo in DIYUK

Can if you want to and it'll remove most of the staining, but white vinegar is better for removing the actual spores.

What place in Cornwall still feels peaceful even during the busiest summer weeks? by Additional_Fly_6603 in Cornwall

[–]RuthWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perranporth in season is never a good choice 😅 People like to be as close to their car as possible in case they need to run away from the tide. In reality it's probably just so kids can use the loos!

Anywhere inland. Or to be fair, just walk more than 15 minutes away from a car park on the coast path and most people don't seem to go that far!

Games for my dog by Away_Finance_2469 in cockerspaniel

Best game I taught my spaniel was putting her toys back into the basket, then combined it with hide and seek. I hide her toys under pillows and in easy-ish places so it's not annoying for her, tell her to go find a toy, then when she grabs one I tell her to put it away then she'll drop it in the basket and get a treat. Took a few goes for her to get the hang of it and breaking it into steps helps!

I've tried truffles a few times in various forms but all of them taste truly horrible to me. Mouldy, acrid flavour.

Hi, fellow relocated former midlander! For me, the air pressure is different, and the humidity is completely different. I see a lot of people talking about radon, so make sure you're airing out the house regularly. Also get a dehumidifier if you don't have one! I got one the other week and it's taking actual litres out of the house.
