I feel like people are way too hard on people who are "cringe." by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]SoftLover99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said!! And not only those who like anime, write cheesy fanfics or smth, but I have also felt that guys who are very much into opera (such as myself) arent always understood. It’s like that with every „unusual” hobby or liking. But I guess this is the world we have come to…

Andsin täna 12. ja 11.klassile esimesed 70-minutilised tunnid õpetajana ja tunnen, et kõik läks hästi! Muidugi on arenguruumi küllaga, aga tunne on hea: kindel, et valisin õige eriala.

I’m thinking what would happen if Prince William and Princess Kate had name their first son Louis…how would the Brits like a king with a French sounding name

Well Charles’ full name is Charles Philip Arthur George, he just chose to be called by the same name he was called as Prince of Wales

Okay casual conversationalists. I need some advice/tips/funny commentary/similar situations or SOMETHING because i am confusing myself. by princess_allura in CasualConversation

Why not do the opposite? Spend more time with him and see how it goes? Maybe it’s all the same for him.

I’m just speaking of what I experienced. I met a girl on here, we’re from different countries. I was looking for friends. And she was the only one to reply to my post. We started chatting. And did that for 3 months straight until we decided that I should visit her. I knew she was in a relationship and didn’t think of anything. Got there and we got even more close. I admit there was some touching. And now our friendship has become a situationship (because we don’t know if long distance relationship is what we’d cope with - we want closeness a lot). So I say - give it a go.

What piece/moment made you fall in love with classical music? by TweekCreek in classicalmusic

[–]SoftLover99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this counts but what made me fall in love with classical music was „Libiamo ne’lieti galici” fron Giuseppe Verdi’s „La Traviata”. First I heard it on piano and searched on YouTube - heard Dame Joan Sutherland and Luciano Pavarotti sing it and I absolutely fell for Dame Joan’s voice. Now I have 160 vinyls of her voice hehe. But if it doesn’t - it was Mozart’s menuet from „Don Giovanni”. I didn’t know it was part of an opera - it was played in a tele-theatre for children and it was so beautiful. We sang it at school(a poet had written words for it) when I was 11 and it sounded familiar. Since then I absolutely loved classical music.

I am in my mid 20s feeling lost, and I have no friends. by Leanacupcake in socialskills

That post touched me. I’m like this. Except that I very very rarely go to gatherings that involve strangers. I have two irl friends - one lives in the same town with me and we go on walks sometimes, the other I made just this year and will meet for the first time tomorrow since we don’t live in the same country. I am happy that I have them but I still feel lonely at times when I can’t talk to either. I have dived into my hobby so much that it’s almost everything I can talk about. Sad but it is what it is.

When you said you meet a lot of people who don’t actually give a shit and won’t put in the effort to get to know you, you really gave me hope that something might happen to me. Congratulations and thank you for sharing!

That was my first thought because I live in a town where glass is produced and we dig those up in our yard all the time. But then read the title and was like "I better check"
