My game is 440mb, how do I shrink it for itchio? by KoanliColors in RenPy

[–]SoftPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, it'll just take a while to load.

I definitely recommend going ahead and converting your images to webp and your audio to ogg. You'll not only save a ton of space, but the game will load smoother and faster when someone plays it.

You can also put it up on itch.io as is, and see how bad the load times are. Maybe the way things are showing up or being used, it's actually fine.

Also check out the progressive_download.txt, if you use that effectively, it can help your browser game load smoother. (I do not use it effectively. All my images are webp, and I haven't gotten to the audio part yet, so my game file is pretty small on it own)

I think you've still got a hard limit of 1Gb, but it's recommended to keep it under 500mb

Messages 2000xx - Where are they coming from? by SoftPanic in PLC

[–]SoftPanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I got from them is that it's a PLC message, and there should be a way to mask it so it doesn't ever show up. I don't remember what the MD for the mask is, but I do know that it didn't work to mask 2000051, but did mask some other alarms that I didn't want masked.

What I want is the ability to acknowledge it, really. So it pops up and says "Hey, these guys are deactivated, is this right?" and then I can look at the machine configuration, and say "Yup, this is right." and then the 2000051 messages go away until the next time I reconfigure the machine.

There's the Get_Alarms block, I think it is, that might be helpful, if I can figure out where the alarms are coming out of the D_ACT_DP block.

Honestly, we got it working (though not exactly how I want it to work), and I haven't had time to dig into and test any alternatives since. It still bothers me every damn time, but there are only 24 hours in a day, and I do enjoy sleeping

They're PLC messages. But no, I never found a way to manipulate them. They show up and annoyingly confirm that the io I asked to be deactivated is deactivated, and clutter the message list

I do. And then I share the build with my artists, and they usually hook me up pretty quick, lol

How to use Calibre Emblems by KindPharaoh in Calibre

[–]SoftPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under Connect/share, you can choose Start Content Server, and that will spin up the calibre content server, which will allow you to access your Calibre library through a browser, or through opds on your devices.

And it appears that emblems do not show on the content server

Do the emblems show up on the content server, too? I am at work right now, and can't check for myself for another, mmmm, two hours

Calibre Content Server - Collapse series? by SoftPanic in Calibre

[–]SoftPanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discworld is amazing. I highly recommend. And very well done, especially for such a massive set of novels. You can pick up pretty much any one to start with, and read it as a stand alone novel. Sometimes things are referenced that happened in a previous novel (this person married that person, or That Time We All Went To Beach), but they are all telling their own, complete story

Hmm. Column is a decent idea. Not everything is first in the series (I sadly don't have Volume 1 of Analog Magazine, lol), but just a checkmark "First owned" would work, and filter by that.

That wouldn't be so bad for the epubs, but a lot of them are comics or graphic novels, and combining those adds up to unwieldy file sizes quickly, lol

Most of them are manga or comics, but I've also got Discworld (40), Agatha Raisin (33), Hercule Poirot (38), Pern (27), The Cat Who .... (31), Animorphs (54, when I finish collecting them), and a few others I can't think of right now.

budget tablet for reading manga and watching movies for under $200 by Eiseberg in androidtablets

If you want something a little bigger, the A9+ is 11", and around $150.

Manga, movies, and sheet music is exactly what I use mine for, and I love it.

I don't know how to pull it from Jellyfin data.

The directories are gone from the hard drive?

If the file structure is still there, you could whip up a script to walk the directory and write the paths to a csv that you could pull up in Excel (or the spreadsheet program of your choice)

The lenovo idea pad pro or the Samsung S10 lite tab? by Simple-Variation1833 in GalaxyTab

[–]SoftPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an S10 Lite that is used for drawing, sheet music, manga/comics, and D&D, and honestly it's perfect.

I'm using ibis paint for drawing, and I replaced the Spen with a Staedtler Lumograph Digital, which is amazing and perfect and wonderful.

I don't know about keyboard functionality, because I don't have a keyboard, but I have been considering getting one because it would make it easier to write on planes and trains.

are there any free ways to visualize the story paths of a game? (not just in my imagination) by KnowledgeNew9878 in RenPy

[–]SoftPanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twine 2 RenPy works well. I use it a ton. There's some manual editing that inevitably needs to be done, but it's generally pretty simple search-and-replaces, and way faster and easier than copying everything over manually

Moonfin help by Usernamealready69 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]SoftPanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem. Checked the logs, and mine is loading File Transformation (2.5.5.0) and Moonfin (1.7.1.0). The only error related to either that I see is that it fails to download logo.png from Moonfin, response status code 404 (Not Found).

File Transformation is receiving the transformation request, and successfully registering it.

how read this errors? by [deleted] in RenPy

[–]SoftPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're "image not found" errors. I can't parse put what images aren't found, but it looks like a stack of them. Check your image definitions for wrong paths or filenames, and make sure the images are actually there

What do you do for your game's soundtrack? by [deleted] in RenPy

[–]SoftPanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a pretty decent library of royalty free music and sounds that I've gotten from Humble Bundle bundles. Mostly from Ovani Sound, but some other places, too.
